We are nearly at 5 already - can you believe at the end of the week is the halfway point of Term 1? 

You may have noticed the difference in how our students are entering and exiting classrooms, as well as the way they transition throughout the school. There is a strong sense of routine, energy and purpose across these transitions, which is leading to calmer classrooms and more settled learning environments.

Our staff have been working deliberately to establish consistent expectations, build strong relationships and ensure clear learning intentions in every classroom. This early part of the year is so important, as it sets the tone for growth, engagement and success across the remaining terms. The investment we make now in routines and relationships pays dividends for the rest of the year.

Thank you to all our families for your support during the recent Extreme weather events and our relocation to Torquay College. I understand that the lead-up and uncertainty can feel unsettling at times. Please know we will always endeavour to keep you as informed as possible and prioritise the safety of every child and staff member in our care.

Thank you also to the many families who joined us for our Welcome BBQ - especially given the heat on Monday! It was a wonderful opportunity to reconnect after the summer break and warmly welcome our new families. We are incredibly fortunate to have such a supportive and engaged community.

Finally, thank you for your ongoing partnership. Education works best when schools and families work together. Whether it’s supporting reading at home, ensuring consistent routines, or simply asking your child about their day and celebrating the many positives, these everyday conversations make a powerful difference in each child’s school experience. Thank you.

Attendance  

As part of our Annual Implementation Plan we are placing a considered focus upon student attendance this year. 

More so than ever schools are being encouraged by the Department of Education to ensure attendance data is accurate and more importantly, that we have all of our students arriving on time, every day, and ready to learn. 

Below is the Compass "Parent Guide" that outlines how you can approve unexplained absences and approve these with a valid reason (pages 7 and 8). 

We certainly want students onsite first and foremost; however, when they are absent, it is important that we know the reason and whereabouts of every student. Our goal is to ensure there are no unexplained absences at any time.

Please take a moment to read the attached information, log into Compass (contact the office if you require assistance), and approve any unexplained absences currently listed.
