Hello all,

On Wednesday we attended Mass to mark Ash Wednesday. This begins the season of Lent. For Catholics, Lent is a time of self reflection with a particular opportunity to cleanse ourselves of the things that are making us turn away from God. One core part is fasting, which focuses on self denial. Personally, I have focused on moving away from Social Media, deactivating Facebook and Instagram. My Son decided to give up Chocolate. He made it one day. I was proud of him for coming to tell me, because he 'forgot'. We are imperfect, but the simple act of giving up something is hard at first, but hopefully it leads us to a simpler way of life, free from the distractions and false idols in life to a space where we have more time for the things that really matter, family and for Catholics, God.

The building is going along inside. It probably doesn't appear that way from the outside, but here are some photos of the demolition works inside to show you the progress.

We will make some changes to how we enter and exit the school this week. These changes are to limit the amount of people walking down the drivethru and creating one crossing. Please do not walk between the sliding gate to the Parish Car Park at any time.

Thanks to the parents who assisted Mrs Mary Tzatzakis on Monday night. Mary unfortunately tripped and broke her arm, however, she was so grateful for the help and care she received immediately from our community. Mary is a loved member of our team and we look forward to her recovering and returning.

We are collecting enrolments for 2027 now. It will be an exciting you, as it will be the first full year with our fresh building. If you have a child who will be starting school, please contact Linda, lrusi@hfdoveton.catholic.edu.au and she will help you with enrolling.

In exciting news, it is likely some of our Year 6 students will be walking out the Melbourne Storm at their first home game. This is thanks to Ali, who has helped so much with our school and the NRL program.

Monday night is the last free session, however, I can assure families, if you want to get involved in the clinics on Monday nights, do not let cost be the factor stopping you. Speak to me and we will be arranging something. Sport is such a great thing for kids confidence and social skills, we hope to provide more, cost affordable opportunities through the year.

Information will be sent out about our Parent Meet and Greets which will occur on the 5th of March early next week.
