Chev Need to Knows

22 November 2024

Dear Parents and Carers

On Thursday afternoon this week we hosted Twilight Tours, where prospective families come and look around to see everything we offer at Chevalier College.  Our student tour guides, student KLA helpers, student bbq-ers, support staff and teachers did a fantastic job of showcasing our College, and I express my thanks to them for giving their time to ensure we put forward our very best offerings.

All areas of the College were open, and visitors were given access to see the vast array of opportunities that come with sending a child to Chevalier. Tours, performances and presentations by students, and wonderful facilitation by teachers, meant that prospective families left feeling as though Chev was a very favourable option for their secondary school learning.

On Monday this week we hosted one of the highlights of the year, when we welcomed our incoming Year 7 cohort for their Orientation Day. Together with College leadership, I was delighted to meet many of the parents, both new to the College and those who are already part of our community, and to have the opportunity to answer their questions about life at Chev.  And of course it was wonderful to see so many excited faces gathering together for the first time as a year group.  We look forward to getting to know these young people as they set off on their journey through high school.

I am grateful to our whole community - students, staff and parents - for their contribution to making Chevalier College the vibrant, authentic and unique place that was proudly showcased at Twilight Tours yesterday.

With best wishes for a restful weekend,

Greg Miller

Principal

Year 10-12 2025 students - exciting opportunity!

Chevalier College is pleased to partner with HEX (Innovating Education) in the facilitation of an award-winning short course program for students in Years 10-12 (2025). HEX is offering a six-week course that aims to help close the digital skills gap by providing high school students with Sydney University academic credit as they upskill in innovation and entrepreneurship.

The HEX High Accelerator Program will be supervised by Jo Kirby, Assistant Principal - New Ambitions and Innovation, from 11 February to 21 March 2025 on Tuesday, Wednesday and/or Thursday afternoons, and between 5:30pm – 6:30pm (with some flexibility, if needed).

There are six, compulsory submissions over the six-week period and successful completion will see each student awarded with an academic transcript from Sydney University. Such a transcript provides full subject credit for universities around Australia (and internationally) where the course has an elective. Essentially, this is a global credit passport without the HECS.

Students enjoy access to industry mentors who help to bring entrepreneurial vision to life, whilst concomitantly developing the mindsets, skillsets, and toolsets to develop their own business ideas. You will find the HEX brochure for students and parents HERE.

Enrolments are open and expressions of interest (‘EOI’) are to be forwarded to Jo Kirby at kirbyj@chevalier.nsw.edu.auby 10 December 2024.  Please note that an enrolment fee of $990 per student is payable by families, and documentation for enrolment will be forwarded once your EOI has been received.
