Principal's Report

Dear Parents and Families,

It’s quite hard to believe that as I write this letter there are just over three weeks left in Term Three!

As the season always demands, we have suffered quite a lot of student and staff illness over the past month, and hope that as Spring descends on us, the viruses clear up.

Foundation Grandparents afternoon

Last Thursday I had the privilege of helping facilitate the Foundation students’ Grandparents afternoon with Ms Watson and Mrs Warland. It was so fabulous to have so many grandparents, parents and special people come in and share in the afternoon. We were treated to some dances from our students, before engaging in some reading, drawing and Maths games. The Foundation students had lots of questions to ask their grandparents about their time at school, too. A BIG thank you to all those family members who came along – the children were so proud to share this experience with you.

Celebration of the Arts

In just a couple of weeks we will be holding our bi-annual Celebration of the Arts event, where we recognise and celebrate ALL the wonderful specialist programs that Ballarat North has to offer, and the amazing talents of our students. I hope you can all join us on Thursday 11th September, from 3:15-5:45, to experience all the CoTA has to offer. From Art galleries, to busking performances, from flash mobs to food trucks – it will all be here! We just cannot wait for this fabulous community event. For those who may not be able to make it, we will leave all displays up until 10:00AM on Friday 12th September, for anyone who wishes to come and have a look at the student’s fabulous work. Just a reminder that the school finish time on Thursday 11th September is 3PM to allow for this event to happen.

We have a number of other events happening in the school later this term and early next that I thought I would also bring to your attention (never a dull moment!):

  • Somers Camp: 2nd to 10th September

  • Year Five Sovereign Hill Excursion: 4th and 5th September

  • Year 6 ScienceWorks Excursion: 4th September

  • Division Atheltics: 11th September

  • Year Six Camp: 15th to 17th October

  • Year Five Leadership Program: 15th to 17th October

  • Year Four Camp: 22nd to 24th October

I’d also like to extend my thanks to the parents who attended our Coffee and Cake session this week – it was fabulous to share some of the learning, wellbeing and engagement initiatives our school is implementing, but to also gather some feedback and wonderings from our families.

Stay well everyone, and until I see you in person, take care of each other and yourselves.

Regards,

David
