MSC Cricket

Maffra had great representation in cricket this year with Year 7 boys, Year 8 boys, Intermediate boys and girls and Senior boys teams. The Intermediate girls went straight through to Gippsland round in October, players include Maddie Winter and Lara Dowsett who recently played in the Walhalla Goldfields Womens Cup. Maddie also recently made a century (101no) for Gippsland against Dandenong. Senior boys were defeated by Traralgon College. Thomas Hunt was best with the bat, Dylan Jones, Ollie Shaw, Conner Gell and Jett Stewart all took wickets, with catches to Ollie Shaw and Kallum Mouldon. Intermediate boys were strong with the bat and in the field, but were defeated by Catholic College. Reuben Corbell 42 not out (2x4s,1x6) and Ollie Shaw 39 not out (6x4s) put on a great partnership. Charlie Brooks, Lachlan Wain and Jesse Lenehan all took a wicket, catches went to Ned Conway and Riley Cameron. Year 8 boys were defeated by Catholic College. Balin Powell and Harry Gault were best with the bat. Max Hitchcliffe took 2 wickets for the day and single wickets to Balin Powell and Charlie Coates. Year 7 boys were defeated by Catholic College. Jayden Baker maintained the crease with the bat, retiring before coming back. Bailey McLachlan and Darcy Hansen took one wicket for the day. Catches went to Darcy Hansen and Chase Lewis, with Chase Lewis also taking a run out. All days were played in high temperatures, a huge congratulations to all involved.
