Over the Easter holidays, we had some grounds work completed including the preparation of our AFL field at the back of the senior playground. The goal posts were installed, the ground was levelled out and lawn seed has been added. We have our fingers crossed for some decent rain. This area has previously been out of bounds to students, and will continue to be for at least a few weeks/months while the grass grows and toughens.
Our swimming lessons have begun with Year 2s last week at Kingswim Clyde North. Swimming lessons are offered to Foundation, Year 2, 4 and 6 students each year.
Camp is not far away for our Year 5 and 6 students. This year our camps are at Golden Valley.
Year 5 and 6 go together on 27-29th May
Year 3 and 4 attend from 8-10th October.
We have 2 student free days coming up this term.
Friday 30th May and;
Friday 6th June.
Team Kids will be taking bookings.
This term we welcome some new staff members joining our Clyde PS team.
Hello, I'm Mrs Mungean, and I am super excited to be joining Clyde Primary School this
year.
I am a proud mum of three beautiful children: Rylan (13), Skylah-Ann (12), and Talan (9).
I have a passion for reading, learning, and being part of a supportive school community.
I used to love playing netball and basketball, but these days I am happy cheering from the sidelines while my kids play their sports.
I'm really looking forward to getting to know you all and being a part of the wonderful Clyde community.
Please head to the Wellbeing page to find out more about our other new staff member.
On Thursday we commemorated ANZAC Day, a national day of remembrance to commemorate Australians and New Zealanders who have served in all wars, conflicts and peacekeeping operations.
At Clyde, PS this important tradition has now become an opportunity to stop and reflect on the sacrifice and dedication of all our veteran and service community, and the families who support them.
Our Mother's Day Stall will take place on the Thursday 8th May. Each class will be allocated a time where they will be given the opportunity to shop for their special person. Gifts range from $1- $5, please do not send large notes to the stall. Prices are set to cover costs only and the stall does not make a profit.
Our Mother’s Day Picnic will take place on Friday 10th May, gates will be open from 1.50pm. Gates will not open before 1:50pm due to students still learning.
Our special guests might like to bring a picnic lunch and find an available outdoor space within the school grounds to sit together as a family, we can arrange for siblings to sit together with their special guests. If the weather is not suitable for an outdoor picnic, then we will move the event inside into classrooms. If you intend to come to the picnic, please notify your classroom teacher through Compass or in person.
This year, Education Week runs from Monday 19 May to Friday 23 May. The theme ‘Celebration of Cultures’ highlights the diversity of our communities and the importance of every child feeling safe and welcome at school.
Clyde Primary School will be celebrating Education Week with an Open Morning on Friday 23rd May. Parents and other family members are invited to attend.
To find out more about Education Week 2025, visit our Open Day page or Education Week | vic.gov.au.
On Friday 16th May, we will be participating the National Walk Safely to School Day. We will meet at Anello Way Playground at 8.40am and walk safely to school.
There will be staff walking with the students, but parents/carers are also more than welcome to walk with the group. We will arrive at school in time for the music and the students to settle into their classroom ready for the day.
Each student that walks on the day, will receive a fake tattoo.
You may not have seen... yet... but our wonderful Mrs Steckyj is creating another one of her masterpieces with the help of some of our students. You will notice how Mrs Steckyj has hand drawn some musical instruments on the steps into our Music Room, and these are currently being delicately painted. We look forward to brightening the area and seeing the final product. Thank you Mrs Steckyj!
Year 6 Fundraising
This year, along with our Graduation Ceremony (11th December), our Year 6 students will also be visiting Gumbuya World for their Big Day Out on Thursday 18th December. Year 6 students and staff are currently discussing potential fundraising ideas to help them cover the cost of the day. These event will occur over the next three terms.
Our first fundraiser for this term is our 50c per slinky apple fundraiser on Wednesday 7th May. This has always been popular with students and all money raised helps to lower the cost of the Big Day Out for our Year 6 families.
Our teachers have been participating in ongoing Professional Learning on the changes to the English Curriculum and have been transitioning from Reading, Writing and Spelling lessons to a more fluid Literacy Block, developed by our staff, and aligning with ‘The Science of Reading’ research. Staff have developed their understanding of the new Victorian Teaching & Learning Model 2.0 (VTLM 2.0), including some ‘Positive Classroom Management Strategies’ which have been designed to increase student engagement and provide students with a higher rate of opportunities to respond throughout our lessons.
This work will continue further during our upcoming Curriculum Day on the 30th of May.
Staff are consistently improving their knowledge and practice through research, rich discussions, observations, and coaching, with colleagues and leaders. We’re excited about these improvements and will continue to review and refine our explicit teaching practice as we learn more about the VTLM 2.0 throughout the year.
Currently, there are many items of clothing in lost property (located at the student entrance to the administration building), as well as many lost treasures kept in the main office.
We have also have a small scooter that has been with us for a number of weeks now.
We encourage families to collect their items from the below pictures and be sure to name their clothing to ensure it's prompt return.
We follow advice and recommendations from the Cancer Council's Sunsmart program. In Victoria, UV levels can be unpredictable and therefore students will require their hat to be available at school, year round, as we may experience a day of high UV levels at any time of year.
Please be aware that new e-scooter rules have come into affect in Victoria and that children under the age of 16 are not permitted to ride them. They are also not permitted to be ridden on footpaths.Because of this e-scooters should not be be ridden to or from school by students, and not on schoolgrounds by anyone. Please check all the requirements on the Vicroads website.https://www.vicroads.vic.gov.au/safety-and-road-rules/e-scooters-in-victoria
Enrolments and school tours have now opened. Please see the 2026 Enrolments page for more information.
