Indigenous Youth Mobility Program – Dream, Learn and Lead

IYMP is an innovative project which supports young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people from regional and remote communities across the nation to Dream, Learn and Lead. 

IYMP goals are to:

  1. Improve Access – to training and employment opportunities in cities. 
  2. Accredited Training – Increase the number of young Indigenous people participating in accredited training. 
  3. Increase Employment – Increase the number of Indigenous people employed in occupations where there is identified community need. 
  4. Support Economic Development -Support remote communities by building the capacity of local Indigenous youth to take up skilled jobs in their communities.

AES is a specialist service that focuses on supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people into careers. They have offices in various communities and provide support for employment, training, and ongoing mentoring. 

 

WISE Employment:

WISE Employment offers a range of services to Indigenous job seekers, including career guidance, resume and interview preparation, and on-the-job support. 

 

Workforce Australia:

This service provides personalized support to help Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander job seekers find work and overcome barriers to employment. 

 

Indigenous Skills and Employment Program (ISEP):

ISEP is a First Nations-specific program that connects individuals with jobs, career advancement opportunities, and training. 

 

Real Futures:

Offers employment programs and support for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, with locations in various regions of WA. 

Share a Yarn

The Australian Institute of Sport runs a Share a Yarn Program that offers Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander athletes a safe space to yarn, reflect and grow. Athletes meet with their mentors online, attend monthly storytelling sessions and attend cultural connection camp at the AIS in Canberra.
