Finishing Term 2 with Thankfulness

As a school community, thank you for partnering with us in prayer. Here are some specific ways you can be praying for different areas of life at Nowra Christian School over the coming weeks.

Year 12

  • Give thanks for a wonderful Senior Retreat and for the encouragement our Year 12 students received to rely on God when life becomes difficult.
  • Praise God for the many milestones our graduating class is celebrating, with fewer than 50 days of school remaining.
  • Pray for our Year 12 students as they approach the end of their schooling. Ask God to sustain them through the busy weeks ahead as they complete assignments, prepare for classes, sit trial examinations, and navigate the emotions that come with finishing school.

Year 10

  • Give thanks for a Year 10 student who recently became a Christian. Praise God for His transforming work and for the clear evidence of His Spirit moving in this young person's life.
  • Thank God for students whose hearts are being softened towards Him and who are actively seeking to know Him more.
  • Pray for our Year 10 students travelling on the Solomon Islands Mission Trip. Ask that God would work powerfully through them for His glory and use this experience to deepen and strengthen their own faith.

Our Staff

  • Pray for God's protection over our teachers and staff. Ask that He would guard their hearts and minds against discouragement, anxiety, overwhelm and feelings of inadequacy. Pray that each member of staff would keep their eyes fixed on Jesus and continue serving in His strength.
  • As the school holidays begin, pray that our staff and families would enjoy a safe and refreshing break. Ask that this time would provide physical, emotional and spiritual rest, preparing everyone well for the term ahead.
  • Pray for our Staff during the upcoming Staff Conference Week. Give thanks for the opportunity for staff to complete first aid training, prepare teaching and learning programs, and participate in professional learning focused on supporting students with additional learning and behavioural needs.
  • Pray especially for the Bible teaching throughout Staff Conference Week as staff spend time in Romans 8. Ask that they would be encouraged by the assurance that there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ, strengthened by the Spirit's work within them and His intercession for them, and filled with confidence that nothing can separate them from the love of God in Christ Jesus.
  • Pray for the speakers leading these sessions, asking that God would speak powerfully through them and use His Word to refresh, equip and unite our staff as they prepare for the new term.
  • Praise God that, even as our school continues to grow and change, He is enabling Nowra Christian School to remain deeply Christ-centred and nurturing.

Year 6

  • Pray for our Year 6 students as they continue to grow in living out their faith in practical ways. Ask that God would help them notice classmates who need a friend, recognise needs within our wider community, and respond with compassion and Christ-like love as they seek opportunities to serve others.

Biblical Studies

  • Thank God for the resources and teaching materials that have been used throughout Semester 1 to help students engage with His Word.
  • Pray that the truths taught in our Year 9 and 10 Christian Perspectives and Relationships classes would remain in students' hearts and minds, particularly the good news of salvation through Jesus Christ as revealed in Mark's Gospel.
  • Pray for the students studying the Moore College Preliminary Theological Certificate (PTC) subject on Mark's Gospel. Ask that God would deepen their understanding of the transforming power of the gospel, grow their heart for mission, and give them courage to share their faith. Pray that they would long to see their friends come to know Christ.
  • Give thanks for our Year 9 and 10 Biblical Studies teachers. Pray that they would enjoy a refreshing holiday break and return ready to faithfully teach God's Word in Term 3.

Student Leadership and Discipleship

  • Praise God for the high school students who faithfully lead Bible studies for younger students. Give thanks for their willingness to serve, their passion for sharing Jesus, and the example of servant-hearted leadership they provide.
  • Pray that our senior student Bible study leaders would enjoy a safe and refreshing holiday break, continue growing in their own faith, and return encouraged for the term ahead.
  • Ask God to help each student leader reflect on this past term, growing in wisdom, confidence and the gifts He has given them for ministry.
  • Pray that each leadership team would have wisdom, discernment and creativity as they prepare Bible studies for Term 3, faithfully teaching God's Word to the younger students in their care.
  • Pray for Mr Petts and Mrs Thompson as they continue to mentor and support our secondary student leadership team. Ask that God would give them wisdom, encouragement and discernment as they equip students to lead Bible study groups and share FISH talks.
  • Thank God for the Christian mentors who faithfully meet with students during recess and lunch each week. Pray that God would continue to bless these relationships and use them to encourage, disciple and strengthen the faith of the students they invest in.

Looking Ahead

  • Pray for our preparations for the school's celebration of NAIDOC Week. Ask that our celebrations would reflect God's deep love for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, honour the rich cultures, histories and achievements of Australia's First Nations peoples, and encourage our community to grow in understanding, respect and appreciation.
  • Pray for our Perspectives Evening early next term. Ask that the gospel would be communicated clearly, faithfully and with grace. Pray that parents would be open to further conversations about faith, and that Christian families within our community would be willing to come alongside those exploring Christianity, building genuine relationships and continuing these conversations beyond the event.
  • Pray for Parent-Teacher Interviews in Week 1 next term. Ask that these conversations would strengthen partnerships between home and school and provide opportunities for our staff to demonstrate the love of Jesus through the care, encouragement and individual attention they give to each student and family.
