Welcome to our first newsletter for Term 3. I hope that everyone had a safe and enjoyable school holiday period. I have been pleased with the calm and orderly beginning to the term. I particularly thank our students, staff and families for adjusting to the new morning routines, with students making their way to their classrooms before 9:00am, with the intent to be seated and learning at 9:00am sharp.
Our School Concert is fast approaching, and I have been fortunate to see most cohorts practising their routines this week. I have been excited by what I have seen and know that our students, as always, will put on a marvellous show for you.
Please do note the communications shared yesterday via Compass regarding the concert and particularly in reference to the opening of ticket sales. This has been adjusted to 9:00am on Monday 27th July, due to a delay from the theatres end.
Our school was as busy as ever over the school holiday period. We had significant upgrades made to Year 3 classrooms on the second storey of the traditional building, as well as painting of doors and windows to the Bundeera Road facing classrooms of the traditional building. We had important repair work completed to the roof of the traditional building, as well as some new air conditioning units installed, new balustrades in the traditional building and maintenance of the kiln in our art room.
Soon you will also see an automatic gate installed and functioning in our staff car park on Bundeera Road. This has been installed for safety reasons. I do understand that at times families have used this car park outside of hours when collecting students from the Team Kids program; this facility will not be available moving forward. I appreciate your understanding of the reasons behind this decision.
The new gymnasium continues to take shape, with the core of the exterior walls now in place, as well as concrete foundations and significant steel in place for the roof. I am excited to think, as we work through another term, just how much progress will be made and how much closer we will be to a completed build!
Earlier this week, I informed you of proposed stop work action from the Australian Education Union (AEU), planned for next Thursday 23rd July. Whilst I do not have any updates at this moment, and am still planning for the stop work action to go ahead, a revised offer has been presented, and I thus encourage you to monitor Compass notifications from the school early next week for further information. Please do note that I will not share any information across the weekend.
Thanks for your ongoing support and keep doing your best.
