Inspiring Pathways: Highlights from Our Visit to Holmesglen Glen Waverley
The Pathways Team had the privilege of visiting Holmesglen Institute’s Glen Waverley campus last Friday, where we got to explore their vibrant grounds and learning facilities in action. From trade skills to creative arts and service industries, the visit gave us a clear window into how practical education is thriving in today's modern environment.
Hands-On Learning Across Diverse Fields
Throughout the day, we toured several training areas and saw first-hand the dedication that goes into shaping the skills of future professionals:
- Landscaping & Horticulture: We walked through the expansive outdoor areas where students get hands-on experience designing and constructing sustainable green spaces including the golf course simulation.
- Sport and Recreation: We observed dynamic fitness spaces designed to equip students with practical coaching and and personal training skills.
- Beauty Services: The industry-standard salon spaces showcased students perfecting advanced treatments in a real-world clinic environment, we got a quick glance into the Laser Therapy world where students prepared for their exam. As well as a make-up workshop where Mrs Whitworth won a make-up palette, for her exceptional blending.
- Floristry: We were inspired by the creative arrangements and floristry workshops, where students master both traditional techniques and contemporary floral design - including a flower restructuring hands-on workshop.
- Cookery & Hospitality: A lovely high-tea were prepared for us by the students to showcase their skills and commercial kitchen under highly qualified expert guidance.
Holmsglen has an Open Day - 12 November 2026
A Supportive Environment for Future Success
Beyond the technical tour, the day offered a wonderful opportunity to connect and network with the dedicated staff and educators at Holmesglen.
What stood out most throughout our visit was the inclusive, encouraging atmosphere cultivated across the campus. Seeing the student-centred spaces and mentorship in practice made it easy to visualize our own students thriving here gaining real skills, building confidence, and preparing for successful career paths.
We look forward to building on this relationship in the future.
