ST JOHN’S ART SHOW - COLOURS OF AUSTRALIA

Celebrating creativity, our incredible country and the talents of our St John’s students.

A little story behind the vision

The concept for this Art Show began this time last year.

I was travelling through Central Australia on a six-week caravan adventure with my family when I received the call about teaching Visual Arts at St John’s in 2027. I jumped at the opportunity!

Knowing it was an Art Show year, my mind immediately began exploring ways to bring the wonder and awe I was experiencing traveling, back to the St John’s community. I truly hope to bring that  vision to life for you.

Over the past ten months, our students have been inspired by our beautiful country and the incredible talents of Australian artists. Week after week, they have embraced their creativity, developed new skills and challenged themselves to try new things.

I am absolutely blown away by what they have created and achieved. I hope you can join us to celebrate not only their individual talents and achievements, but also what we have accomplished together as a community.

Why is Thursday night a ticketed event?

The difference is in the word EVENT.

I want every student in our school to have the opportunity to share their achievements with their families. We understand that work, family commitments and other responsibilities can make attending an evening event difficult.

That’s why we are opening the Art Show again on Friday 23rd, from 8:30–9:30 am, free of charge. This gives families who cannot attend on Thursday evening another opportunity to experience the exhibition — and those who loved it to come back for another look!

What makes Thursday evening special?

Thursday night is more than an opportunity to view the artwork. It is a celebration of creativity, connection and our wonderful St John’s community.

Here’s what you can look forward to:

  • Opening ceremony — a special celebration of the Arts and our talented St John’s students.
  • Interactive art activities — inclusive, hands-on experiences for all ages, led by our Years 4–6 Art Show Leaders. Enjoy face painting, potion making, colouring, collage and painting.
  • Live performances — enjoy our school choir, alongside individual students and groups singing, dancing, reading poetry and sharing their talents on the main stage.
  • An incredible Raffle — win amazing collaborative artworks created by our students, beautiful hampers and wonderful prizes donated by our generous sponsors. You can choose which prize you would like your raffle tickets to go towards! (See some of the prizes above!)
  • Food trucks — enjoy delicious food while soaking up the atmosphere.
  • Community connection — an opportunity to come together, celebrate the Arts and share in the achievements of our students.

Make the most of your Thursday evening

Tickets will be available at the door on the night. However, purchasing your tickets in advance comes with some lovely extras:

  • Express entry — spend less time waiting and more time enjoying the Art Show.
  • Exclusive door prize draw — every pre-purchased ticket includes an entry into a separate draw, with three prizes to be won.
  • A keepsake Art Show brochure — take home a special memento celebrating the exhibition and our students’ achievements.

I cannot wait to share this vision with you and celebrate the creativity, imagination and talent of our students.

Thank you for being part of the St John’s community and for helping us celebrate the Arts.

❤️ Beth, Visual Arts Teacher

I look forward to seeing you there!
