Message from the Principal

Dear parents, carers and friends of EEPS,

Schools have always been centred around the ‘weeks’ in the term and as we are rapidly moving through Week 3 there are lots of things on the go at EEPS!

Enrolments

Enrolment tours for Prep for 2027 are well and truly in full swing. Thank you for the parents who have taken enrolment information packs to the local kinders and childcare centres. Enrolment numbers were slightly down across the Network for 2026 but we are hoping that this bounces back in 2027! Please, a reminder to get your enrolment forms in for siblings and to let your friends and family members know to consider our great school if they have a prep student looking for a school in 2027.

State Budget

Whilst the details are still unclear it is very exciting that Eltham East Primary School is receiving some additional money from the State budget to further the works resurfacing our aging synthetic turf oval and planning a competition grade stadium. I will keep everyone up to date as more information emerges. The school is grateful for the persistent support from Vicki Ward, our local Member of Parliament.

Child Safety Updates

The government has recently updated some of the Child Safe processes and procedures. These changes will be rolled out over the next few months. It is including a new and updated specific policy in one area. You may notice some updated posters around the school. EEPS is staying up to date with all the important changes and ensuring that our staff are aware of them. This includes refresher training in Term 3 to complement the earlier training in February.

Staff News and Available Positions

After 23 years Ros W, is retiring from our EEPS OSHC service at the end of May. I would like to thank her most genuinely and profusely for her decades of service to the school. We wish you all the very best Ros!

As a result of Ros’ retirement, we are looking for a new 2IC in our OSHC service. In addition to this we are also recruiting two additional part-time ongoing OSHC educators. These jobs are advertised on SEEK. Please encourage anyone who may be interested to apply or to obtain more information from either Melissa McCarthy, EEPS Business Manager, or the OSHC Coordinators- Jess and Marrisa.

Concert - ‘More Than Music’

We are very excited to be starting our concert process. Please look out for a direct Compass Newsfeed on this topic this week, and then subsequently there will be a special ‘tab’ in the Newsletter for concert news.

Grove Street Planning Permit

Recently there was a planning application for a double story childcare centre at 6 Grove Street. This application has been refused. Although, there would have been positives to such a proposal it would have also added to the traffic congestion challenges on Grove Street. The school will keep an active interest on developments in this area.

This week we have had swimming, a parliament process incursion, Interrelate, a presentation for Year 1 and we look forward to the Year 2 and 3 MSO excursion on Friday and Interschool Sport.

Have a great week of Learning and Growing Together.

Kind regards

Warren Lloyd

Principal
