Assistant Principal's Message
Mrs Marie Iorfino
Welcome to Term 2!
A very warm welcome back to all our community members as we begin Term 2. I hope the recent break provided a wonderful opportunity for rest, reflection, and quality time with loved ones.
As we step back into our classrooms and playgrounds, we do so with renewed energy and a focus on the Sydney Catholic Schools 2026 Religious Education theme: "Everything is Possible with God" (Matthew 19:26). This theme will be at the heart of our journey this term, reminding our students that their potential is limitless when grounded in faith and perseverance.
This term, I want to challenge every student to step outside of their comfort zone. Learning is rarely a linear path; it requires the courage to ask difficult questions, the resilience to learn from mistakes, and the determination to strive for excellence even when the work feels demanding. Whether it is mastering a complex new concept in Mathematics, refining a creative piece in English, or pushing for a personal best in our sporting programs, I will be encouraging your child/ren to set ambitious goals. Growth happens in the "stretch zone," and I will urge them to approach their studies with a growth mindset, knowing that your child's teachers are here to support you in every endeavor.

Term 2: Presentations: Years 2 - 6
Use these KAPLAN prompts to help you with your research:
Details
| Traits, attributes, characteristics to describe something; the defining characteristics/ the evidence to support ideas and opinions
|
|
|

The Details icon challenges students to determine the key facts, traits, parts, or elements of the content. Learners are tasked with looking for the vital details or characteristics to define the topic of study.
Big Idea
| When students think about the Big Idea of a topic, we’re looking for a statement that sums up the content. |
|
|

The Big Idea prompt (represented by the pillar/temple icon) asks students to identify, generalise, and summarise core principles or themes from a study. It forces learners to move beyond facts to formulate a central, supported theory. Key questions include identifying the main message, summarising content, and relating it to other subjects or the real world.
National Walk Safely to School Day (NWSTSD) is scheduled for Friday, 22 May. This annual event encourages primary school children, with their parents or carers, to walk safely to school. This event will help reinforce safe pedestrian behaviour, promote the health benefits of walking, raise awareness of healthy habits at a young age, and develop vital road-crossing skills. Secondary schools can also engage in this event to raise awareness of safe pedestrian behaviours and walking safely to and from public transport.

Could you please ensure you label your child's uniform items whether they were purchased new or from the second hand uniform shop. This ensure that if items are lost they can be returned easily.
Each year, Sydney Catholic Schools (SCS) provides time for Staff Development Days (SDD), which provides professional learning time for all staff. St Anthony's will provide supervision for ALL Staff Development Days from Monday, 30 March. Parents will need to register.
