OUR DAY AT LIGHTNING PREM

Friday 12th June at Mary MacKillop College

By The Soccer Team 

When we got there we went to the gym and sat down in our schools and Miss Sperling explained how the day was going to work, then we went to the soccer pitch and warmed up for our first game against St Josephs. We were all a bit nervous but we still did good and we won 6-0. We all were a bit confident after that win. 

When the game started against Leongatha Primary, we were winning 6-0 and then scored another 5 in the next half to make it 11-0. Then we were all just sitting together and eating. 

Then we realised there was 10 minutes till the game against Korumburra. If we won we would be in the finals. We were all nervous but we still won 8-0. 

Then we realised it's time for the Grand finals! Everyone else from our school came to watch because their games were all finished. We started warming up and we were extremely nervous and excited. When the finals started Chairo had the kickoff but we pressed as hard as we could and then they scored the first goal of the match. This made us all nervous, we knew they were going to be  a really tough team to beat. Then before half time Evan scored a goal and then the bell rang for half time. In the second half there were no goals so we had to go into overtime.  After the first overtime of 5min finished, we had one more to go. When the second overtime started we gave it everything we had. When there was only 40 seconds left before going to penalty shootout Ben scored a goal!! 

We won the finals and we lifted our trophy which was a shield.

By the Mixed Netball Team

On Friday the 12th the 5/6’s went to Mary Mackillop for the Lightning Prem. In the mixed Netball team was Georgia, Willow, Emilia, David, Fletcher, Brianna, Elena and Aaliyah. We played three games and we lost all the games. Overall it was a really good day everyone played really well and were really encouraging. A couple of people slipped over but got straight back up.  

By the Girls Netball Team

On Friday the 12th  5/6 s went to Mary Mac for Lightning prem and we played netball. In the girls team was Felicity, Hannah, Chelsea, Tully, Winter, Matilda S, Matilda O, Alessandra &Thisali.

The whole day everyone was attacking really well, our shooting was amazing and our defending was super amazing. Everyone was encouraging their teammates and the other teams. The day was really fun. With someone who fell over everyone was seeing if she was ok and then she was back on the court in no time. Overall it was a really good day.

CONFIRMATION WORKSHOP

Thank you to all the families who attended the Confirmation Workshop on Wednesday evening. This night offers wonderful support to the Confirmation candidates (and their families) as they prepare to make this new sacrament. Could all candidates return their Confirmation slip to their class teacher as soon as possible with their chosen Saint's name and Sponsor's name.

Confirmation will be celebrated by Bishop Greg and Father Stanly on Thursday, July 30 at 6:30 pm in the St Laurence's, Leongatha Church.

RACE INCURSION

On Thursday, Krishia from the Agri-tech Education team at CQUniversity brought the RACE Roadshow to the Junior Classes and taught us about how robots and technology can be used on farms.  Students learnt about autonomous tractors and had fun coding Edison robots.

Grade 1/2 students also learnt about how drones are used on Australian farms to monitor livestock, inspect paddocks, and guide herds safely and efficiently.  Students got to fly drones through simple obstacle courses.
