Structured Workplace Learning Opportunities for VCE-VM Students

Dear Parents and Carers,

We are currently seeking opportunities within our community to support our Year 11 and Year 12 VCE Vocational Major (VCE-VM) students through Structured Workplace Learning (SWL) placements.

Our VCE-VM students are all enrolled in a Certificate II or Certificate III course within their chosen vocational pathway. Structured Workplace Learning provides students with valuable real-world experience and the opportunity to further develop their employability skills, industry knowledge, confidence, and career pathways.

We are looking for businesses, tradespeople, organisations, or community members who may be able to offer students a workplace placement for one day per week, or any time that can be offered.

All placements are covered by Department of Education SWL insurance and include a student payment rate of $5 per day.

At present, we are particularly seeking opportunities in areas such as:

  • Carpentry
  • Automotive
  • Electrical
  • Information Technology (IT)
  • Plumbing

However, we would also welcome opportunities across a broad range of industries and workplaces.

There is no expectation or commitment for an ongoing placement beyond what you are able to provide. Even a short-term opportunity can make a significant difference in supporting a young person’s future pathway and helping them gain practical industry experience.

If you believe you may be able to assist with the placement of one of our students, or if you would like further information about Structured Workplace Learning and what is involved, please do not hesitate to contact me.

We greatly appreciate the continued support of our school community in creating meaningful opportunities for our students.

Kind regards,

Hamish McGee
