School Council meeting 27th October 2025

Rocco and Olivia from Junior School Council presented their JSC update. They reflected on the successes of Show Day and have planned out upcoming fundraisers including Remembrance Day and the Fun Run. The outdoor behaviour matrix is now present in all classrooms, and the focus is on the value of Resilience. JSC have been constructing rubbish reduction posters with Cindy, which have been developed in Japanese. This Friday is World teachers’ day, the theme is “Hats off to teachers” where students can wear a silly hat.

Jarrod’s principal report outlined the school structure for 2026, which is similar to the current structure. 2026 Foundation students had their first transition sessions, which were very positive, with one to come. Student free days for 2026 will remain as four curriculum days and one common Teacher Professional Practice Day. We have begun our Annual Implementation Plan review, celebrating our achievements and setting goals for next year, with our School Review upcoming in 2026. Our school won the design awards for our recent school build, Congratulations!

Dates to note:

  • F/1 activity night – Thursday 6th November

  • Graduation - Tuesday 16th December

  • School start dates for 2026 - Years 1-6 begin on Thursday January 29th and Foundation students begin on Tuesday February 3rd.

The resources committee financial reports were presented and endorsed. Fundraising amounts from the Comedy Night will be presented at the next meeting. The Japan Study tour is currently being investigated in regards to costing and feasibility. The current Family contribution process is being reviewed and will be finalised shortly. Final building work defects have been fixed and surveyors from VSBA have come out to address the dampness in the Curiosity Building.

Elisha provided an update from the Education Committee. Two new policies have been developed – Inclusion and Diversity Policy and Acceptable Use Agreement (previously Digital learning policy). Feedback from the community was sought around school policies regarding child safety. The Wellbeing team will be reviewing our ‘Learning to Learn’ program and embedding wellbeing and school values into this.

There was no community engagement meeting this month, this is coming up.

Next School Council meeting is on November 24th.
