Principal's Message

PARENT/CARER SURVEY – WE NEED YOUR FEEDBACK!
If you have received an invitation to complete the Parent/Carer Survey, please take a few minutes to respond. We are keen to hear from as many families as possible, as your feedback helps us understand what we are doing well and where we can continue to improve.
Our response rate is currently quite low, and we are aiming for 80 responses across the school.
If we reach our target of 80 responses, we will organise a special activity for our students to celebrate – this may include a shared lunch or something similar!
Please complete the survey if you have received an invitation. Every response counts, and we really value your feedback.
Thank you for supporting our school and helping us make Warrnambool Primary School the best it can be.
YEAR 3/4 BASKETBALL
On Monday, we had some students head off to compete at the Year 3-4 basketball competition. With 28 enthusiastic students taking part, our teams showed great teamwork, sportsmanship and determination throughout the day. It was wonderful to see students supporting one another, having fun and giving their best on the court. Well done to all our students on a fantastic effort and to Ella Haugh and Arcaim Lallemand for their amazing coaching skills.
BOOK WEEK PARADE - MONDAY 24TH AUGUST
We’re excited to celebrate Book Week with a fun and creative Book Parade on Monday 24th August!
Families are invited to come along and watch the parade during our 9am assembly in the gym.
We can’t wait to see all the amazing costumes and celebrate our love of books together!
YOUNG PORTRAIT SHOW
We are excited to share that our students will be featured in the Young Portrait Prize Exhibition at the Warrnambool Art Gallery!
Every student, except our newest students, have created an artwork for the exhibition, making this a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the creativity and talent of our school community.
Families are invited to view their child’s artwork at the exhibition from 22nd August through to 18th October.
We encourage families to take the time to visit, celebrate your child’s creativity and enjoy the wonderful collection of student artwork on display.
THE LITTLE MERMAID – COMING TO WARRNAMBOOL PRIMARY SCHOOL
The excitement is building at Warrnambool Primary School as our students prepare to take to the stage for our spectacular whole-school production of The Little Mermaid!
Our students have been working incredibly hard, with rehearsals well underway. They are busy singing, dancing, acting and learning their lines, and the enthusiasm and excitement across the school has been fantastic.
It is wonderful to see so many of our students embracing the performing arts. The children absolutely love being involved, and this production provides them with a wonderful opportunity to build confidence, work as a team and showcase their talents.
Wednesday 2nd September 2026
12:00pm performance
7:00pm performance
Both performances are expected to be extremely popular, so we encourage families and friends to pre-purchase their tickets through Compass Tix.
This promises to be a fantastic celebration of the performing arts at Warrnambool Primary School. We are incredibly proud of our students and the dedication of our staff who have worked behind the scenes to bring this production together.
Let's fill the theatre for both performances and give our students the audience they deserve!
Get your tickets early – we are aiming for two sell-out shows. Remember all tickets must be bought on Compass Tix or from the office prior to the event. No ticket sales on the night.
CELEBRATING 150 YEARS OF WARRNAMBOOL PRIMARY SCHOOL
2026 is a very special year for Warrnambool Primary School as we celebrate 150 years of education, learning and community – from 1876 to 2026!
Our 150th Anniversary Celebration Week will take place from Monday 12th October to Saturday 17th October 2026, culminating in a very special community celebration on Saturday 17th October.
The week will provide an opportunity for our current students, families, staff, past students and members of the wider Warrnambool community to come together and celebrate the wonderful history of our school.
The Saturday 17th October celebration will include an official welcome, an Open School opportunity, food, activities for children, special guests and plenty of opportunities to reconnect with the school. We are also planning some fantastic activities for our students, including a petting zoo and other special experiences.
A major highlight will be our history and memorabilia displays, featuring photographs, documents, school records and special items from across our 150-year history.
Do you have something to share?
We would love to hear from former students, families and staff who have photographs, documents, stories, uniforms, trophies, badges or other memorabilia connected to Warrnambool Primary School.
If you have something you would be willing to loan for our 150th Anniversary displays, please contact the school office. We will take great care of all items and ensure they are safely returned.
We are also keen to hear from our oldest living former students and former staff who may be able to share memories of their time at the school.
150 years is an extraordinary milestone – and it belongs to our whole school community. We look forward to celebrating our past, enjoying our present and looking towards the next 150 years.
MAIN BUILDING STORMWATER WORKS
Important works are commencing at Warrnambool Primary School to replace the stormwater drainage system around the Main Building.
Stage 1 works commence Monday 17th August 2026 and are expected to continue for at least two weeks.
During Stage 1, the regular Jamieson Street gate may be out of service at times. In this case, to ensure everyone can safely enter and exit the school, the following arrangements will apply:
Infant Building students: Please use the Foundation Gate.
All other students: Please use the pedestrian gate near the staff car park or the front gate.
We appreciate everyone's patience and cooperation while these important infrastructure works are undertaken. Please take extra care around the work areas and follow all signage and directions from staff.
We will provide further updates as the works progress.
Have a great weekend.

Principal
