Equal Opportunity Day - Girls AFL
On Thursday 24th August we had over 50 students compete at the Kingston Division Athletics carnival. Our students were fantastic. They gave everything a red-hot go and represented our college superbly.
We have at least 11 students moving through to the Southern Metropolitan carnival on Thursday 5th October at Ballam Park in Frankston.
Special mention to Amelia S for winning both 100m and 200m races and Will R for entering two ages above his age grade and winning the discus!
Hockey is not a hugely popular sport at Sandringham College. We had a small amount of interest at year 8 but not enough to fill a girls team and a boys team. Instead of not entering any teams we combined all players and created a 'mixed' team. This team trained hard attending many 8am training sessions with Ms Carter and the hard work paid off because they won the 'boy/mixed' year 8 competition on Friday 25th August!
The team will go through to the Southern Metropolital finals on Wednesday 25th October.
Sandringham College is very lucky to have Laura Hulley as part of their staff team. Laura is a State League lacrosse player and current u/15 girls Victorian state coach. Through Laura's passion for Lacrosse she gives our students the opportunity to train and compete in the annual School Sport Victoria state finals.
This term we have sent four teams to two different state competitions. All teams played really well. We'd like to make special mention of our Junior Girl A team who won the competition and are now STATE CHAMPIONS!
