"History, despite its wrenching pain, cannot be unlived, but if faced with courage, need not be lived again." –Maya Angelou

In Year 9 Humanities, students have been conducting inquiry projects on World War I and World War II. Through these projects, students have developed a deeper understanding of the causes and effects of both World Wars. They worked both individually and in groups to enhance their historical thinking skills, including the analysis of primary sources. Students were encouraged to exercise agency and make choices when investigating specific elements, and they shared their expert knowledge with the class. Investigating first person and survivor accounts further improved their understanding and empathy.
