Dear Parents, Guardians, and Students,
We're thrilled to share our commitment to promoting physical activity, well-being and an active lifestyle among our students. This term comprised of a myriad of engaging experiences, empowering our students to not only excel academically but also to thrive physically and mentally. Here is a glimpse into the exciting activities, events and educational initiatives HPE students have been enjoying during term 3!
As an integral part of our Sports Academy Program, we are committed to providing our athletes with a diverse range of enriching experiences. In this upcoming excursion, our students will have the incredible opportunity to visit the prestigious Foundry Athletic High-Performance Training Facility.
During this excursion, students engaged in two impactful sessions:
Introduction to Gym Fundamentals: This session empowered our students with the foundational knowledge and skills required for effective gym workouts, setting the stage for their athletic development. The students were introduced to gym fundamentals by expert trainers at Foundry Athletic. These professionals provided valuable insights on proper form, techniques and exercises tailored to their age and fitness levels.
Recovery Session: This session focused on the importance of post-workout recovery techniques, ensuring that our athletes can perform at their best while safeguarding their well-being. Expert trainers at Foundry Athletic introduced our athletes to a range of scientifically-proven recovery methods. These techniques encompass proper stretching, foam rolling, hydration strategies, and relaxation exercises.
By mastering these tools, our students can enhance their body's ability to recuperate, reduce the risk of injury, and maintain consistent performance levels. Overall, the students had a great experience at Foundry Athletics.
On August 3rd Year 7 & 8 members of the Sandringham Basketball Academy travelled down the highway to Parkdale Secondary College to compete against their basketball academy in the inaugural challenge games. These games provided further opportunity for academy athletes to implement their skills and concepts learnt at training and begin to prepare for the next academy tournament. All athletes worked hard and competed fairly, putting on an exciting contest. We look forward to a rematch later on in the year!
Special thank you to Yvan and Tye for coming along to umpire and to Robbie for coming and to support his academy members.
We are thrilled to share the exhilarating experiences of our Unit 1/2 Outdoor Education Studies students who recently embarked on a thrilling 3-day camp to the picturesque Mount Buller.
Nestled in the heart of the Victorian Alps, Mount Buller offers a pristine natural playground that was the perfect setting for our budding outdoor enthusiasts. Over the course of three unforgettable days, our students had the opportunity to immerse themselves in the beauty of the outdoors and engage in a variety of educational and recreational activities.
During Unit 2 AOS1 students delved into the fascinating world of human development across the lifespan. This unit provided our students with a unique opportunity to explore physical, intellectual, emotional and social development, with a special focus on the transition from youth to adulthood.
Here's a glimpse into some of the exciting activities that took place during this unit:
Emotional Development: Understanding and managing emotions are essential life skills. To engage with this aspect of development, our students participated in a creative and therapeutic activity - flour stress ball making!!!
Intellectual Development: Intellectual growth is a cornerstone of lifelong learning. Our students embarked on a journey of intellectual development by engaging in a variety of problem-solving and mind board games. These activities challenged their critical thinking skills, encouraged strategic planning and fostered intellectual resilience.
Our students went on a memorable excursion to Sandringham F45 where they had the opportunity to explore various training methods, design and evaluate training programs, and work on enhancing specific fitness components.
During this engaging excursion, our students truly worked up a sweat as they immersed themselves in the world of fitness and exercise. One of the key highlights of the session was a deep dive into the realm of circuit training. Circuit training is a dynamic and effective fitness method that involves moving through a series of different exercises, targeting various muscle groups and fitness components. This approach not only challenges the body but also promotes cardiovascular fitness, strength and endurance. Great effort to our Unit 3/4 PE!!
We extend our heartfelt congratulations to all our Unit 3/4 students for reaching a significant milestone in their academic journey—the successful completion of their coursework. Your hard work, dedication and perseverance throughout this challenging year have been truly commendable. Good luck for your exams!!!
