Learning in Faith

Sacramental Program Dates 2026
At St Mary’s, we are delighted to support you and your children as they grow in faith. Within the Catholic Church, the sacraments are joyful milestones and tangible signs of Jesus’ love.
We invite you to consider the sacraments offered this year for your children. A Sacramental Expression of Interest Form was sent home at the end of 2025. If you missed it, would like further information or would like your child to be involved, please contact Miss Dullard at school or via email at ndullard@smhastings.catholic.edu.au
For families who have already expressed interest, please note the relevant dates outlined below and add them to your calendar. We look forward to sharing this special time with you and your child.
Ash Wednesday Liturgy
Last week, our school gathered as a community for our Ash Wednesday liturgy, led beautifully by 5P. During the service, we received ashes on our foreheads in the shape of a cross, a reminder to be loving, just like Jesus.
5P encouraged us to follow Jesus in small but meaningful ways this Lent: helping someone in need, being kind to our classmates and inviting others to join our games. Even these simple acts reflect God’s love when they come from a caring heart. Being a disciple of Jesus is about loving others as Jesus does, every day.
Caritas Australia's Project Compassion
This Lent, our school community is supporting Caritas Australia’s Project Compassion, to make a difference for vulnerable communities around the world.
Students will learn about inspiring people whose lives have been changed through the work of Caritas including Sisilia from Tanzania, who now has access to clean water and more time for school; Monoranjon from Bangladesh, who is using climate-smart farming to support his family; Manaini from Fiji, who is building new income opportunities; and Caritas staff in Gaza who continue to provide life-saving support in extremely challenging circumstances.
Each classroom has a Project Compassion box to collect donations. With parent permission, students are encouraged to contribute spare change throughout Lent. We also have additional boxes available for families who would like to support the appeal at home. Please see Miss Dullard if you are interested.
