News and Notices
Welcome to Term 4
We are looking forward to another wonderful term and also feeling quite sentimental about this being our Year 6 students' final term of primary. Primary school is a special time in children's lives and it is our privilege and pleasure to know our students and see them grow and flourish. We are wishing our Year 6 students a truly spectacular Term 4 and will be treasuring our remaining time with them.
This term we have a lot of events scheduled such as: Sparkles & Stripes Day (a FUNraiser i.e. for fun), The Night of Stars (i.e. extra-curricular performing arts event) and our annual Tally Way Day (5 December). Tally Way Day is a celebration of the school year and a chance for children to show ‘The Tally Way’ during a range of fun activities. We will also hold the annual ‘Tunnel of Love’ where our whole school farewells our Year 6 students (6 December).
Our term calendar and event details are shared to parents and carers via ClassDojo (camps, excursions, swimming carnival etc are included).
Term 4 is 11 weeks this year instead of the usual 10 weeks. The additional school week will be alternate programming as the educational program, assessment and reporting will have concluded.
Prep 2025
We are looking forward to getting to know our 2025 Preps even more through student interviews in Week 4 of this term. Information about upcoming events is provided to parents and carers of enrolled students, so if your child is starting school next year and you haven’t enrolled them yet, please enrol ASAP so they don’t miss this important preparation time.
Anaphylaxis
Last week, staff completed annual anaphylaxis training with the practical component being delivered by a Queensland Health specialised nurse.
Lost Property
Lost property has again accumulated with unnamed items. Unnamed items can't be returned and when unclaimed after a period of time, are removed and donated to the P&C for the second hand uniform sale. If your child is missing any belongings, please remind them to check lost property.
Named items are returned to students so please ensure all items such as jumpers, hats and drink bottles are clearly named.
Man on the Bike
Our school community provide thoughtful support to local businesses, including at the Man on the Bike. We are appreciative of parents, carers, staff and other school visitors only parking in the Man on the Bike carpark when they are customers of the businesses. It is a tow away area and occupying carparks when not a customer may be detrimental to the operation of those local businesses.
The Man on the Bike carpark is not a school drop off or pick up zone and we ask that our Drop and Go be used for that purpose please.
Election for School Council Parent Member
Nominations are now open for the very important role of Elected Parent Member on our school council. A position on the school council of an Independent Public School is an excellent opportunity to contribute. An email has been sent to our parent group outlining details about the role of the school council and the nomination and election process. If you are a parent/carer (with legal parental responsibility) and didn’t receive the email, please contact the office.
Due Date for Nominations | No later than Thursday, 24 October 2024 at 2:00pm |
