Growing, Learning and Harvesting in Agriculture:

Our Agriculture students at Kerang Technical High School have been busy getting their hands dirty and putting their horticultural knowledge into practice!

This term, students have been learning about plants, how they grow and what they need to thrive. They have been involved in a range of practical activities, including looking after our chickens, growing vegetables and seedlings, preparing garden beds, weeding, mulching and caring for our crops.

Their hard work is certainly paying off, with some fantastic produce harvested from our gardens. Students have grown some impressive broccoli and cauliflower, along with healthy beetroot and silver beet. It has been wonderful to see students take pride in watching their plants develop from small seedlings into vegetables ready to harvest.

Some of our freshly grown produce has also been used as part of a cooking demonstration focusing on pantry food, giving students the opportunity to see how food grown in our gardens can be incorporated into simple meals.

Agriculture provides our students with valuable hands-on learning and helps them develop an understanding of where our food comes from, while also building skills in responsibility, teamwork and sustainable gardening practices.

We Need Your Help!

Our Agriculture program is always looking for ways to expand and provide more opportunities for students. We would greatly appreciate donations of:

Surplus vegetable seedlings, suitable garden tools, pots, gardening equipment or other useful horticultural items.

If you have any gardening supplies or excess seedlings that you would be happy to donate to our Agriculture program, please contact Kerang Technical High School. 

Your donations will help our students continue to learn, grow and produce their own fresh food.
