Principal's Message

TERM 1 SEMESTER 1

 Bonjour à tous.

TUESDAY 24th is as normal school day for St Laurence's.  Only public school teachers will be on strike on this day.

Children are enjoying our icy pole Fridays during term 1 & will do so again in term 4.   We ask that parents only order 1 icypole per child and not to order for other children (ie friends).

We appreciate parents offering to help out at school or for sports events etc.  A reminder that to  assist you do require a current Working with Children's Check card.  You can apply for one of these online and is free.   The school will need a copy for our records.

What a fantastic time the 5/6's had on Licola Camp.  So many very happy but tired children on Friday when they returned.  I hope you enjoyed listening to all they experienced whilst they were there.

Parents will have noticed that there have not been photos of students on Facebook for some time now. This is to be in line with child safety and the U16 new regulations which come into effect in December last year.  Parents were informed of this change and the reasons why well before the December ruling come into play last year.  Our priority is to keep our children safe. We are sorry if parents have been disappointed by this however, you can view photos in the appropriate manner via our newsletter or seesaw.

SCHOOL CROSSING:  There has been some reports of parents not stopping at the crossing when Barry (our crossing person on Ogilvy Street) is in the middle of the crossing with his stop sign.  This is unacceptable behaviour. Ogilvy Street is extremely busy in the mornings and afternoons so we need to be vigilant and keep our crossing people safe. They are there to keep our students safe, please give them the same courtesy.

Today we held our House Athletics Carnival at the Leongatha Velodrome.  It was ideal weather for this event.  All students competed to the best of their abilities.  You should all be very proud of yourselves.

Emily Sherriff is running  the Seasons For Growth 8 week program again this year.  This program assists children with navigating change, loss and grief.  Emily will run this program over 8 weeks on a Friday with a small group of 4-7 students.  Please see the flyer with detailed information on the program.

On the last day of term 1, you are invited to attend our Easter Liturgy which will be held after recess at 11.30am.  After the Liturgy we will draw the Raffle and classrooms will be open to parents and friends for students to show you their rooms.  End of the school day is 2.30pm.  You are welcome to take your child/ren early however,   please ensure that you sign them out at the office or inform the teacher/s that you are leaving the school grounds.  If your child/ren will not be catching the bus on this day, please let the office staff know so the bus list for the afternoon can be amended accordingly.
