May our building be a home for those who seek to grow in faith,
knowledge, and service of others …
Amen
From the Principal
Dear Families,
During Harmony Day today, we celebrated the diversity that permeates our school community. It was wonderful to see students dressed in either cultural dress or a splash of orange. We came together at lunch time and for our prayer service this afternoon. The final prayer of our gathering captures the message and meaning of Harmony Day, that everyone belongs, and to live in harmony, we respect and accept everyone.
God of all people, God of love,
Just as the colours of a rainbow
Blend and merge to form one rainbow,
So too may the colours of our different cultures and beliefs,
blend and merge in our families, our communities and throughout our world,
through mutual respect and acceptance,
so that we may come together in true harmony.
Staff News
We recently farewelled Mrs Sharon Bennett, our Italian and support 3/4 teacher. Sharon left to take on a full-time teaching role at Emmaus College. The arrangements for Sharon’s replacement are not yet finalised. There will be no Italian for the last three weeks of this term. Mrs Sue Carr will teach the 3/4 class until the end of term.
I am pleased to advise that Ms Candy Li has been appointed as a full-time LSO. Candy has been working with us since the beginning of the year as a pre-service LSO and in that time has developed positive relationships with students and staff. We welcome Candy to our school.
Project Compassion
Supporting Project Compassion is important to our students, not just from the charitable aspect of donating money but also in learning that their contribution can create change in the lives of others. Students learn that the money we donate to Caritas contributes to the implementation of initiatives such as education programs, agricultural projects, and developing infrastructure that supports clean drinking water in communities. These initiatives contribute to the dignity of others through increasing their participation in society and giving them a voice in their own communities.
School Closure Days Term Two
Next term we will have two school closure days. The first closure day is Monday 20 April when staff will engage in first aid training. The second closure day is Tuesday 9 June when staff will engage in the school improvement and school review process.
School Advisory Council
The School Advisory Council (SAC) is a crucial part of our school community as it promotes consultation between parish, school and families. Parent representatives share their wisdom and offer support to me in relation to strategic interests of the school according to our terms of reference. Our Term One meeting is scheduled for Thursday 26 March at 7.00pm. If you are interested in being a part of the SAC or if you would like further information please contact me.

Tuck Shop
Sticky Beak Lunch wallets now available to purchase from the office
Cost $15.00 each
"We would love to welcome all the new families starting at St Philips this year. Our Tuck shop is a highlight of the week for the children. They love seeing their parents during lunchtime counter sales! Lunch orders are taken in the morning and delivered to classrooms ready for lunch time. Over lunch time, we have snacks and treats available for sale over the counter. If you are able to spare 1 or 2 sessions per term to volunteer, we would love to hear from you! Full training will be provided. Each volunteer session is from 11:30 - 2.30pm, working in a pair. See below for contact details.
Tuckshop is open every Friday, we are very fortunate to have our tuckshop run by parent volunteers for the students enjoyment. This would not be possible without our small team of committed volunteers showing up week after week.
Please reach out to Clara on 0449 767 020 or Angi on 0431 021 711 if you can help. We appreciate your support.
