End of Year Garden Club & Quail Update
What a year it has been for Gardenvale Primary’s Garden Club! Each Friday, around 35–40 enthusiastic students have joined in, supported by five wonderful mums who now volunteer their time to help guide activities.
Since the arrival of our five quails in October—Maggie, Matilda, Molly, Melissa, and Phoenix—gardening has reached a whole new level. What began as a small project to build an outdoor enclosure for the quails has blossomed into a full garden rejuvenation. Over the past few weeks, a dedicated group of students has been turning up every morning before school to clear, plant, and create a beautiful outdoor space where both kids and quails can relax, revive, and learn about nature together.
The garden project will be completed by the end of January, ready for everyone to enjoy in Term 1, 2026. Along the way, the children and parents have shown incredible initiative, raising close to $1000 towards the quail enclosure. With just a few more icy pole sales, we’ll have enough to purchase the enclosure at the start of the year—a fantastic achievement that the kids are rightly proud of!
A very special thank you goes to our outgoing year 2 champions who always show up with smiles, enthusiasm, and care for both the quails and the garden: Arlo, Zac V, Rachel, Emma, Odin, Ellie, Miles, Henry and many more - Your dedication, team spirit and leadership are exceptional.
And lastly, a heartfelt thank you to the mums, who stepped up to help and volunteer- Rowena, Nat, Carly, Katya, Elise and everyone else working hard behind the scenes. We could have not run this beautiful initiative without you!
We can’t wait to see the finished garden in the new year and watch our quails settle into their expanded home. Congratulations to everyone involved—this has truly been a community effort worth celebrating!
Wishing everyone a joyful holiday season, may your days be filled with light, laughter, and togetherness.
