Dear families,
Welcome back to Term 2. We hope all families enjoyed a relaxing holiday break and that our students have had the opportunity to recharge ahead of what promises to be another busy, productive and enjoyable term at Williamstown Primary School.
2027 Prep Enrolment Information Night
On Tuesday 28th April at 6:30pm, we will be hosting our 2027 Prep Parent Information Night in our Junior Building (access via Hanmer Street).
This evening is designed to give prospective families an insight into our school community — who we are, what we value, and how we support every child to learn, grow and thrive. It is a wonderful opportunity to learn more about what makes our school such a special place for Willy Kids.
If you have a child beginning school in 2027, we warmly encourage you to attend. We would also appreciate current families sharing this opportunity with friends, neighbours or family members who may be considering enrolment for next year, including those living outside our local school zone.
Each year, we greatly value the opportunity to meet our new families and showcase all that makes our school community so strong. We look forward to welcoming many prospective families next Tuesday evening.
ANZAC Day Commemorations at Williamstown Primary School
We warmly invite our school community to join us as we acknowledge and honour those who have served our country through two important ANZAC Day commemorations this week.
School ANZAC Service – Friday
Our annual school ANZAC service will be held tomorrow (Friday) at 10:45am under the large shade sail. The service will be proudly led by our Grade 6 Junior School Council leaders, who have worked thoughtfully to prepare a respectful and meaningful ceremony for our community.
Families and community members are very welcome to attend.
Williamstown Dawn Service – Saturday
We are also proud that Williamstown Primary School students will once again represent our school at the Williamstown Dawn Service on Saturday morning at the Cenotaph, at the end of Ferguson Street, Williamstown.
The service will commence at 5:45am and provides an important opportunity for our community to come together in remembrance.
We are incredibly proud of the way our students continue to represent the values of respect, leadership and community service through their involvement in these significant events.
Community Support and Generous Donations
We would like to sincerely acknowledge and thank members of our wider Williamstown Primary School community for their recent generosity and support of our students.
A special thank you to Rotary Club of Williamstown for their generous donation of $1,300, which will go directly towards supporting student wellbeing and welfare initiatives across our school.
We also extend our gratitude to Walk a Mile in My Shoes Foundation for their generous contribution of $2,500, made possible through the support of Treehaus and Jellis Craig.
These partnerships and acts of generosity make a meaningful difference to the opportunities and support we are able to provide for our Willy Kids.
We look forward to warmly welcoming representatives from the Walk a Mile in My Shoes Foundation to next week’s assembly, where we will proudly receive and acknowledge this donation through a formal cheque presentation.
Grounds Improvement Update
We are excited to acknowledge the completion of the new resurfacing works and additional downball courts across sections of our school grounds over the holiday break. These upgrades have already made a significant difference to the presentation, functionality and play opportunities available for our students.
The improved courts provide more space for active play, movement and connection during recess and lunch times, while also enhancing the overall look of our outdoor areas for the whole Williamstown Primary School community.
This project is not yet finished, with the next stage set to commence in the coming weeks. Upcoming works include:
We know these additions will further enhance our playground spaces and provide exciting new opportunities for our Willy Kids to be active, engaged and connected during play.
Thank you to our community for your ongoing support in helping make these improvements possible.
Road Safety Reminder for Families
The safety of our students, families and staff is always a priority, particularly during busy drop-off and pick-up times. We kindly remind all families to take extra care when approaching school crossings and parking near the school.
Please remember to:
A small amount of patience and care can make a big difference in keeping our school community safe. Thank you for helping ensure all Willy Kids arrive to and from school safely each day.
Warm regards,
Mat Montebello
