City Experience

Year 9

As part of our Year 9 City Experience this Term, students braved the cold mornings to venture into Melbourne (some of them catching trains and trams for the first time) to explore the culture, society, landmarks, history and food of our city.

They were offered unique experiences such as exploring the inner sanctum of the MCG, paying their respects at the Shrine of Remembrance, visiting the National Art Gallery of Victoria, playing out a courtroom drama as judge, jury and prosecutors at the Old Melbourne Gaol, and exploring the best street artist displays in Flash Forward.

Students also visited The Intersection, a non-profit social enterprise in the heart of the city, where theyexplored the issues causing homelessness.

A popular highlight was all the food sampled around Melbourne, particularly at the S Queen Vic Market! When the sun came out students were able to enjoy the wonders held in the Royal Botanical Gardens and they took the opportunity to slow down in a busy city.

We are incredibly proud of the positive and responsible nature in which our students have represented the College this week and it has been really great to see them develop their independence and organisational skills.
