Year 8 Girls Netball

On Thursday 23 May, our talented Year 8 Girls Netball teams participated at the Interschool Sports showcasing their skill, teamwork, and school spirit after a month of training and hard work. Throughout the day, the Wanny girls faced off against teams from neighbouring schools including Rowville Sports Academy, Upwey, Fairhills and Boronia Secondary. The 1s came up against some tough competition on the day and demonstrated much resilience and enthusiasm regardless of the score. The team came second overall for the day in their division. The 2s celebrated many successes and some goals scored from incredible distances, leaving the competition a strong and consistent team. Overall, I am incredibly proud of evert students’ efforts and the way they represented our school. Congratulations to all the players and student coaches Paige and Leo for their fantastic efforts throughout the day. Here's what some of the team had to say:

The Wantirna B Netball girls were happy that we got to win 3 games. Unfortunately, we could not win our final game, but we all tried our best and still had fun. Thanks to our fill ins from the 1s and our two lovely coaches who were encouraging us to keep on going. We were all bonding well on the court and weren’t giving up no matter what. Another thanks to Miss Bristowe for organising the teams.

It was such a fun day because we got to spend it with our friends doing something we all loved and had fun together. It was a great way to spend time with new people and work together as a team to have fun and try our best!

On Thursday 23 May, we went to the Knox regional netball courts and played four games, our team did exceptionally well winning all matches except our last one against Rowville West B, it was still quite a close game and we all had lots of fun hopefully the girls had a good time and enjoyed a day out playing netball. The team had really great teamwork and I am really proud of all of the girls thanks for a great day.

On 23rd of May 2024 I had the opportunity to go out and help coach the year 8 girls netball team. I had a lot of fun learning how the year 8 girls play and helping them grow their understandings of the sport while having fun laughing and making jokes with them. We won 3 games and lost by a short margin on the last one. I am still so impressed with how the girls played and I hope i get this opportunity again!

Year 7 Girls Netball

Last Wednesday, our Year 7 Girls Netball team went and competed against other schools at the Knox Region tournament. Both teams did incredibly well with our A team winning both games against Upwey and unfortunately falling short against Rowville Sports Academy. All players fought hard and took on feedback to play some impressive netball throughout the day. Gabby and Dhani coached the other Year 7 girls netball team.  They won two of the five games and the girls played really well. At the start they seemed nervous to play with each other but over the course of the day they improved amazingly. These girls were a funny and really lovely group of people to coach. We had a great time ourselves and would love to do this again.

Big shout-out to the lolly salads and music that featured on the day and got all the players though! It was a pleasure to coach and take out the group.
