Dear Parents and Carers,

We have been thoroughly enjoying the sunshine at our play times as we move into the end of term. We recently purchased new soccer and netball goals thanks to Sporting Schools funding that have been a real hit. The 'dirt farm' looks like it's going through spraying, harvesting and seeding all at the same time. I recently met with our Student Representatives and Student Leaders who provided great feedback and suggestions on what is working well at Sacred Heart School, what we could work on to improve and some of their new ideas. The playground and school yard is often a point of discussion, from everything to adding in a pool to enhancing our play equipment. We discussed that we are working on making upgrades to our playground and we look forward to sharing in this process with our students, families and staff next term. 

Many thanks to the Corryong Bakery for providing our students with Hot Food Lunches throughout Term Two and Term Three. The students and families have enjoyed being able to have a day off lunches and to share in some treats. 

Our students have spent a lot of this term working on a variety of Art creations to exhibit at the upcoming Corryong Show. Everything from port holes/potholes to Monster drawings or the most questionable exhibit thanks to Miss Lockwood, decorated 'jocks'. Thankfully we did a paper version, rather than bringing in jocks to decorate! If you're heading to the Corryong Show, check out the Art Exhibits, every student will hopefully at least one item submitted.

Beginning in Week Two, several students will begin learning about the Sacraments of Eucharist and Confirmation with their families, with the sessions being guided by Celeste Oliver. We are grateful and thankful for Celeste giving up her time to help facilitate these sessions for our students and we look forward to celebrating the students receiving the sacraments at Mass on the 18th of November.

As we began planning our camp program for this year (in 2025), we recognised the need to move away from our traditional camp structure of Melbourne/Canberra for our Year 5/6 students and Howman’s Gap/Borambola for our Year 3/4 students. This decision was influenced by the number of students in our senior year levels, as well as the increased costs associated with a smaller group of students and budgeting. This year, students in Years 4/5/6 will attend an overnight camp in Beechworth, while our Year 3 students will enjoy a special sleepover experience at school. Looking ahead, we are planning to transition to a three-year camp cycle rather than the previous two-year alternating format. This will ensure students continue to access valuable experiences such as Melbourne and Canberra camps, while helping to keep these opportunities affordable for families. In some cases, this may involve a broader range of year levels participating together.

We remain committed to providing engaging, educational and memorable camp experiences for our students. At the same time, we continue to carefully consider the financial impact on families and strive to balance enriching opportunities with affordability.

Thursday 22nd October - Whole School excursion to Wonga Wetlands and Albury followed by Year 2 fun afternoon at school and Year 3 sleepover at school.

Friday 23rd October - F/1 Assembly

Tuesday 27th October and Wednesday 28th - Year 4/5/6 Camp to Beechworth

Monday 2nd November - Pupil Free Day

Tuesday 3rd November - Melbourne Cup Public Holiday

Friday 6th November - Year 4/5/6 Assembly

Wednesday 18th of November - Sacrament of Eucharist and Confirmation Mass to be celebrated with our School Community

Friday 20th November - 2/3 Assembly
