PSPA AGM | A Heartfelt Thank You and an Exciting New Chapter

What a wonderful opportunity our recent PSPA Annual General Meeting was to reflect on another fantastic year, celebrate the people who have given so much to our school community and welcome a new team as we look ahead to 2027.
Firstly, I would love to say a huge and heartfelt thank you to our outgoing President, Bree Ambry, Vice President, Jodie Prendergast, and Treasurer, Malene Sorensen.Bree has been part of our Peninsula Grammar parent community for around 10 years, including approximately five years as PSPA President. Her dedication, passion, and commitment have been incredible, and she has given so much of her time and energy to making a difference.
One of the things I particularly admire about Bree’s leadership is her passion for giving back, not just within our School but to the wider community. This year alone, the PSPA contributed approximately $3,500 towards a cooling cap for Peninsula Health’s Day Oncology/Chemotherapy Unit, bringing the total support for the unit during Bree’s presidency to more than $6,000. The committee also put together around 30 Christmas hampers for families and patients at Peninsula Health, including those in the maternity and chemotherapy units.
What a wonderful legacy to leave, and something we should all be incredibly proud of.
To Jodie, thank you for your years of support, enthusiasm, and willingness to always get involved. And to Malene, thank you for the care, dedication, and commitment you have brought to your role as Treasurer. Your contributions have been so valued and appreciated.
To all three of you, thank you for everything you have done for our school community.
A New Chapter for 2027
I am absolutely delighted and incredibly honoured to be stepping into the role of PSPA President for 2027.
Peninsula Grammar is such a special community, and I genuinely believe that the connections we create between parents, families, and the School are just as important as the events and fundraising we organise.
For me, the PSPA is about so much more than fundraising. It’s about bringing people together, creating friendships, welcoming new families, and making sure everyone feels they belong.
Sometimes it’s the smallest things - a coffee, a conversation at a school event, a friendly face or someone taking the time to introduce themselves - that can make the biggest difference.
I’m thrilled to introduce our 2027 PSPA Executive Committee:
- President: Sarah Scarlett
- Vice President: Lou Quill
- Secretary: Frances Stavretis
- Treasurer: Uday Modi
And our wonderful General Committee: Cilla Xi, Kim Milton, Pamela Habjan, Jasmin Chua, Jennie Shen, Steve Zammit, Kim Milana, Pheona Donohoe, and Alex McKillop.
I’m so excited to be working alongside this fantastic group of parents, who are all generously giving their time to help make 2027 a wonderful year.
Looking Ahead - Let’s Make 2027 Fantastic!
We have some exciting opportunities ahead of us, and I’m really looking forward to bringing fresh ideas, new energy, and plenty of fun to the PSPA.
We will be getting together in October for our first planning meeting to share ideas, set some priorities, and start putting together a fantastic calendar for 2027.
My hope is that we continue to build on the wonderful foundations already in place, while finding new ways to bring our school community together.
And here’s something I really want to emphasise - you don’t need to be on the committee to get involved!Whether you have an hour to spare, would love to help at an event, have a great idea, want to join us for a coffee, or simply want to meet some other parents, we would absolutely love to have you involved.
The more people who get involved, the stronger and more connected our community becomes. Finally, to every parent, carer, volunteer, and family who has supported the PSPA throughout the year - thank you! Every little contribution makes a difference, and it’s the people who make Peninsula Grammar such a wonderful place to be part of.
I feel incredibly lucky to be taking on this role, and I can’t wait to see what we can achieve together.
Here’s to new ideas, new friendships, lots of fun, and a fabulous 2027!
Sarah Scarlett
PSPA President 2027
