Term 3 Almost Done and Dusted!

The two-night, two-cast 2026 Years 2-6 Concert has been a huge success. It’s been a fantastic showcase of our Performing Arts program and demonstrated what can be achieved through the collaboration of our incredible students and staff.

Our Year 6 performers were outstanding, performing their roles with confidence and enthusiasm. Across the two evenings, our Year 2 and 4 students on the first night, and our Year 3 and 5 students on the second night, delighted audiences with their dance performances and energy on stage. It was certainly a concert to remember.

A huge thank you to Megan, Deborah, Alan and Claire, who has supported 6A while Alan has been away. Thank you also to Cathy for her wonderful work in Performing Arts and to Michael for his contributions to the props and backdrops that helped bring the production to life. Issy and the STOMP Dance Group have also been amazing, working with students from Years 2 to 6 and, in just a few short weeks, helping them develop the confidence and skills to perform on stage. All of this work contributed to polished performance and provided another wonderful opportunity for our APS students to shine.

In other APS events we also enjoyed a very successful Comedy Night in the gym last Saturday evening. Thank you to the organising team who planned, decorated, coordinated and worked together to make the event such a success. It was a wonderful opportunity for our community to come together and enjoy a night filled with laughter, including some entertaining (and hopefully mostly fictional!) stories from the perspective of parent helpers on APS excursions, along with many other jokes and tales. Thanks Sam and Steph and the whole team who supported and organised this event.

As we finish the term, here are a few quick reminders. On Thursday morning, we will conduct a lockdown drill as part of our Emergency Management Plan program. Throughout the year, we have practised both on-site and off-site evacuation procedures, and these drills help ensure that students and staff are familiar with the procedures required in an emergency.

Lost property is currently laid out and available for families to check for any missing items. Unnamed items will be donated to charity or placed on second hand uniform rack at the end of term. 

A reminder that students will finish Term 3 at 2:30pm this Friday. A short assembly will be held in the gym at 2:10pm prior to dismissal.

As we reach the end of a busy term filled with highlights both inside and outside the classroom, I would also like to acknowledge and farewell two staff members whose contributions have made a significant impact on our school community.

Cathy has been an invaluable member of our team, not only through her work in Performing Arts but also through her incredible flexibility in covering classes for our Learning Specialists and Disability Inclusion Leader. This week's concert success is a fitting way to celebrate the outstanding work she has done during her time at APS.

We also farewell Carlos, who has worked tirelessly to keep APS looking its very best. In a relatively short time, he has made a tremendous difference to the presentation of our grounds and school environment.

While it is always sad to say goodbye to valued staff members, we thank Cathy and Carlos for their contributions to APS and wish them every success and happiness in their next chapters.

Finally, I wish everyone in our APS community a safe, relaxing and enjoyable break. 

Thank you for your support throughout another wonderful term, and I look forward to seeing everyone back on Monday 5 October, ready for another great term at APS.
