Principal's Report
Term 4, Week 1
Dear St FX Parents and Carers,
Welcome back for the last term of the 2024 school year! I trust you all had a lovely and safe holiday break and enjoyed spending time doing things a bit differently for a couple of weeks.
Staffing
As was mentioned last term, we farewelled Holly Greenaway from the role of Leader of Pedagogy at St Francis Xavier’s. Interviews for this position were conducted at the end of Term 3 with Lucy Suttor being the successful applicant. Lucy is currently employed at St Joseph’s Wee Waa and will be finishing the year there before commencing at St Francis Xavier’s at the start of the 2025 school year.
At the end of Term 3, we also farewelled two of our teaching staff - Lisa Creighton and Kate McInnes. Lisa, and her family, moved from Narrabri so they could be closer to where her husband started a new role with his work. We wish the Creighton’s all the best wishes for their move and that they experience a smooth transition to their new home and school. To replace Lisa’s teaching load, we welcome Cathy Walters to the St FX staff. Cathy will job-share with Jess Craig, working Mondays and Tuesdays, while Jess will work Wednesdays - Fridays for the remainder of the year.
In the Stage 2 space, Kate McInnes commenced her Maternity Leave at the end of Term 3. Kate’s teaching partner, Alex Conroy, will be picking up Kate’s teaching load of Thursdays and Fridays, meaning Alex will be teaching Monday - Friday this term. We wish Kate, and her family, all the blessings as they prepare to welcome their new addition to the McInnes family.
Term 4 Sport - Swimming & Platform & Co
This term, we welcome back Jake and Ellie from Platform & Co who will only be working with our Infants classes this term. This will occur on Wednesdays in Weeks 2 - 6. Primary classes will be engaging in swimming for their sport on Fridays in Weeks 4 - 9 this term. More information about Primary Swimming will be coming home shortly. Students are still required to wear sports uniforms on Wednesdays and Fridays in Term 4.
P&F Meeting - Wednesday 15th October, 5:30pm
The P & F is being held this evening at 5:30pm. We welcome any new or returning faces so you can hear about upcoming plans for the P&F and to share ways and possible opportunities for us to help strengthen the St Francis Xavier’s family community.
Dance Extravaganza
Thank you to all the families and friends who joined us at our Dance Extravaganza at the end of last term. To look out from the stage and see a theatre full of the St FX community was an amazing experience. The success of the evening was a wonderful culmination of all the effort the staff and students had put in across several weeks leading up to Week 10. I would also like to extend a ‘thank you’ to Lauren Grant who worked with our staff and students to assist them with choreography for the various performances.
I hope you all experience a smooth start to the term. I look forward to another busy, yet enjoyable, term!
Kind regards,
Mal Frend
