Student Engagement at Corpus Christi 2026
Positive Behaviour for Learning
Last year at Corpus Christi, we implemented Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL), launching into a whole-school approach to responding to behaviours in a consistent, proactive and supportive way.
PBL is an evidence-based framework grounded in extensive research demonstrating that when schools explicitly teach and reinforce positive behaviours, student engagement and attendance increase, behavioural incidents decrease, and academic outcomes improve.
Through PBL, each of our communities focuses on building clear expectations, strengthening relationships and creating predictable learning environments where every child feels safe, valued and ready to learn. Research consistently shows that when students experience a strong sense of belonging and understand what is expected of them, they are more confident, more engaged and more successful in their learning.
Our ongoing commitment to Positive Behaviour for Learning at CCK is further reflected in the news shared by our Year 1/2 community.
Year 1/2 Wellbeing and Social Emotional Learning
In our Year 1/2 Learning Community, we are continuing to strengthen our Positive Behaviour for Learning, with a special focus on being safe in all areas of the school day.
During learning time, we demonstrate safety by walking calmly in the classroom, pushing in our chairs, and sitting correctly at our desks. These small actions help create an organised, focused and respectful learning environment for everyone.
At playtime, we practise being Sun Smart, playing in areas where we can be seen, and using equipment carefully and responsibly. This ensures that everyone can enjoy their break safely and happily.
When visiting the toilets, we remember to take a partner, we walk directly there and back, flush, and wash our hands. This supports not only both safety but good hygiene too..
At CCK, we are proud to be safe, kind, respectful and responsible learners. We look after ourselves, our friends and our school community, always striving to be our very best.

POSITIVE BEHAVIOUR FOR LEARNING
The weekly PBL rule is drawn from our Behaviour Matrix. Each week our children focus on a whole school rule that meets our five school expectations
This week’s PBL focus is:
We are SAFE (Toilet)
We are learning to take a partner, walk straight there and back, flush and wash our hands.
