Principal's Report

Dear family and friends of MPW
Welcome back to Term 3. We are looking forward to another exciting, fun term full of learning. This term we have several exciting learning activities and celebrations planned, including: Book Week Dress Up Day on Monday 18th August; the MPW Show Day at the end of term and many exciting incursions and excursions being planned this term. It is a 9 week term, the shortest term this year, so it may feel like it will go quickly with lots of activities on throughout the term.
Congratulations to our Foundation students for reaching 100 days of school on Thursday last week. Students had a great time dressing up and participating in activities around all things relating to the number 100. Students engaged in a scavenger hunt in the morning finding numbers 1-100. They had a great time, especially finding the number 100 which was located on my forehead and beanie at the end of the hunt. It was a great milestone to celebrate and enjoy a fun day with the students.
3-way conferences
Our parent, teacher and student conferences will be held on two separate nights, Tuesday 5th August and Thursday 7th August.
These 15-minute conferences will provide a chance to discuss your student’s progress, achievements and goals. The three-way conference is an opportunity to involve students in the conversation about their learning achievements and future learning. It promotes students voice, self-reflection and encourages student's to take responsibility and ownership for their learning.
The conferences are bookable on Compass and are currently open. Bookings will close end of the day Monday 4th August.
Bookings through Compass will give parents the choice to indicate if they would like a face to face or an online interview. When selecting your preferred time there is a pop-up with the option to select the location of the meeting as either online or face to face, if selecting online the booking will provide you with the teacher’s Webex link.
Should you have any requirements to make your conference more inclusive or accessible please contact your child’s teacher or the office.

2026 Enrolments
A final reminder that the statewide enrolment process for next year’s foundation students required enrolment applications to be in by last week, Friday 25th July. For current families, if you have a younger sibling starting next year, please ensure your enrolment application has been given to the office as soon as possible. This will help us plan and prepare for our 2026 structures.
NAPLAN reporting
Last week NAPLAN results were released to schools and our individual students’ reports were sent home to our Year 3 and 5 families.
Students’ NAPLAN reports will continue to provide an indication of their skill levels against national averages. The results provide valuable information to teachers about how we can continue to support your child this year. Each set of NAPLAN results is an important milestone but it’s also important to remember that it is a snapshot of learning on the day under test conditions. NAPLAN was completed in Term 1 and students will have made growth in learning since then.
Our School Improvement Team (SIT) and year level teams will be looking at the overall school results and to identify areas of strength and improvement for the school. I am hoping to be able to provide a summary of results to the community once the full results are released, including the State and National data next month.
Please see upcoming dates in the Community Calendar
