 Term 4 Chess Club Simul with International Master Leonid Sandler

On Monday 1st December, International Master Leonid Sandler returned to Mordialloc College for the final simultaneous exhibition match of the year.

It was our biggest turnout yet, with more than thirty students in attendance. Leonid moved effortlessly from board to board, rarely taking more than a couple of seconds per move, pausing only to offer a few lucky players some quick lessons as their games unfolded.

His winning streak remained intact. By the end of lunch he had checkmated around half the participants and held clearly dominant positions on the remaining boards, maintaining his remarkable record for another term.

We look forward to welcoming Leonid back to Mordi in Term 1 next year. Until then, Chess Club continues every Monday lunchtime in LC 5. If you are keen  to test your thinking, sharpen your skills, or simply enjoy a good puzzle, come along and make your move.
