Rel. Principal, Tim Lloyd

Term 1 has been another busy but rewarding term at Guyra Central School!

Firstly, I need to clarify the leadership roles going forward. Our Principal Michelle Nicholson will continue to be on leave for term 2. This will mean that I will continue to relieve as Principal and Ellie Auld will continue on next term as relieving Deputy Principal.

The other important thing I need to let our school community know is that as per the Department of Education’s guidelines for 2025 - we will have 2 teacher-only Staff Development Days at the start of Term 2. All students will return on Wednesday April 30th.

Guyra Central School continues to offer great opportunities for all students and this is something we take great pride in. It has been a whirlwind of sporting, academic and cultural activities again this term with no sign of let up as we move into Term 2. Sport is in full swing with trials for Northwest teams, primary cross country and the commencement of knockouts in soccer, tag and league all underway. Well done to all the students who have gone and given their best for themselves and the school and thank you to the teachers for their organisation and coaching and to parents for their support to give students these opportunities and experiences. Similarly, we have had another group of our year 10 & 11 students sign up for School Based Apprenticeship/Traineeships where the students combine work, TAFE study and school in their senior years. These are again a wonderful example of the school coming together with parents and our local community to provide outstanding opportunities for students. These are just a couple of the highlights from a packed Term1.

Our big focus as a teaching staff this year is on implementing the Clarity Professional Learning program which is designed to support staff in collaborating, reflecting and enhancing our teaching practice as a collective group. We are in the early stages of this but very excited about the initial progress and potential.

I also want to thank our fantastic P&C who continue to work tirelessly to support our students and our school. The work they do is greatly appreciated.

Finally, to the students and staff of Guyra Central School - thanks for a great Term 1. Have a safe and enjoyable break, look forward to seeing many of you at ANZAC Day and everyone else back at school on 30/4. Happy Easter!
