We are over halfway through the term, and it has been a busy and engaging one for our students. Events such as Grandparents’ Day, Feast Day celebrations, Sports Day, excursions, Book Week, Dance classes and sacramental faith formation have provided rich learning experiences beyond the classroom.
While different from regular lessons, these experiences are just as valuable in supporting student growth. Participation helps students develop skills such as teamwork, resilience, leadership, and social confidence, while applying learning in new contexts.
These opportunities complement classroom learning by offering students a different lens to explore, practise and reflect on their skills. As a school community, we continue to celebrate the many ways our students learn and grow throughout the term.
Book Week at Sacred Heart is always epic!
What makes it so special is our love of reading, our love of dressing up, and our love of celebrating together as a community – and this year was no different.
Sue, our Literacy Leader, led her team of teachers to make this year’s celebrations so successful. Students had fun showing off their costumes, visiting each other’s classrooms, showing off some their classroom book displays and spending the afetrnoon cosying up with their favourite books.
A huge thank you to our families who, as always, went above and beyond to get costumes ready for the day.
I hear some teachers are already planning next year’s costume!
Last Saturday evening at St Margaret Mary’s Church, and Sunday morning at Sacred Heart, our students celebrated their First Holy Communion in beautiful and joyful liturgies. Both celebrations were packed to the rafters! We congratulate all the children who received Jesus for the first time and thank their families for supporting them on this special day.
We also keep in our prayers the students who will be making their First Holy Communion this Sunday morning at Sacred Heart Church at 10:00am. We warmly invite all families to come along to celebrate and support them as they take this important step in their faith journey.
We are looking forward to this year’s Family Faith Night as we explore how to encounter Jesus in the small, everyday moments at home.
At this stage, registrations are very low, and the event may be cancelled if more families do not sign up. We warmly encourage you to register now using the QR code or website so we can go ahead and share this special evening together.
