Message from the Principal
Dear parents, carers and friends of EEPS,
Well, we are nearly at the end of Term2 and the halfway point for the school year! Time has flown by and this term has been full of exciting opportunities and activities.
Thank you to those parents who were able to attend the last Assembly for the term on Monday. It was very special to hear Copper Strings perform a classic Cold Play song and be entertained by our younger students for EEPS of Talent. Well done to our Year 5 and 6 students, who were awarded their VHAP certificates for Term 2.
Holiday Work
Over the holidays we have some planned maintenance work in addition to a couple of landscaping projects that will be starting. Make sure to look out for any differences when you return in two weeks.
This Friday
This Friday, at 12.00, the Australian Soccer team is playing their last game in the World Cup series. There will be options for students to watch this match at school and they are welcome to bring Socceroo colours or scarves if they wish. This is not a normal practice at EEPS but given it is the last day of the term I am making this one exception!
My Reflections
Every term has its challenges and ups and downs. This is normal especially in a school community of our size. Despite this we have still continued to make steady progress on both our school goals and cultural practices. The Mentor Groups have been well received by students and teachers and our professional learning in embedding explicit teaching has also continued. Importantly, we have also launched the EEPS Behaviour Response Process and had a deeper focus on respect and kindness. This work is never finished but there are really positive signs of the effectiveness of these developments.
Teacher Absences
At this time of the year there is always an increase in teacher absences due to illness. This year is no exception, but I wanted to remind all parents that teaching isn’t a job that you can do if you are not 100% healthy and being around children all day can sometimes increase illness! Please always be assured that we do our best to replace absent teachers with known and experienced CRTS.
Term Planner for Next Term
Lastly, there will be a parent date planner sent home to parents later this week, that may help for your organisation for the term 3. It just isn’t quite ready yet.
Thank You
Thank you to all members of our school community - students, staff and parents for all the combined efforts throughout the term. We have a great deal to be proud of, and I hope that families do take a moment to reflect upon the successes this term.
Reminder
Please remember that school finishes this term on Friday at 2.30.
Have a fabulous break and be ready for a very exciting concert term!
Kind regards
Warren Lloyd
Principal
