SSV GWR Senior & Intermediate Basketball

On Thursday 13th August BHS qualified 4 teams (Senior Boys & Girls, Intermediate Boys & Girls) to the SSV Greater Western Region Basketball competition held at Selkirk Stadium, Ballarat.

Senior Boys

Round Robin competition – Mercy Regional College (41pts to 17pts), Horsham College (19pts to 12pts), Trinity College (44pts to 22pts), Emmanuel College (24pts to 18pts).
Result – Greater Western Region Champions.
Students involved: Floyd Brooks, Fletcher Farnsworth, Max Francis, Coda Lench, Jackson O'Brien, Levi Payne, Max Thomson, James Triantafyllopoulos, Kale Tuaine, Aiden Wiltsher

Senior Girls

Round Robin Competition – Trinity College (15pts to 24pts), Mercy Regional College (12pts to 15pts), Baimbridge College (17pts to 13pts).
Result – 3rd Place

The 3 winning teams now qualify for the SSV State Championships at the Melbourne Sports Centre Parkville on the following dates:

Senior Boys – Thursday 17th September
Intermediate Boys – Monday 16th November
Intermediate Girls – Tuesday 17th November

SSV State Senior Girls Hockey Championships

On Tuesday 18th August BHS qualified our Senior Girls Hockey team for the SSV State Senior Girls Hockey Championships at the Footscray Hockey Club.

Pool A – Bendigo Senior Secondary College (0 goals to 4 goals), Melbourne Girls College (0 to 9), Mordialloc College (0 to 2).
Pool B – Balwyn High School, Hume Anglican Grammar, Northern Bay College, Norwood College.
Result – 7th Place

SSV Eureka Year 7 Volleyball

On Thursday 27th August BHS took two teams to the SSV Eureka Year 7 Volleyball event held at the Daylesford Secondary College.

Year 7 Boys

Round Robin Competition - Woodmans Hill Secondary College (2 sets – 42 points to 0-16), Mount Clear College (0-20 to 2-42), Mount Rowan Secondary College (2-42 to 0-24), Daylesford Secondary College (2-42 to 0-27).
Runners Up Final v Woodmans Hill Secondary College (2-42 to 0-35)
Result: 3rd Place

BAS Championships

BAS Lap of the Lake Championships

On Wednesday 26th August eleven BHS students attended the BAS Lap of the Lake Championships around the scenic Lake Wendouree precinct. Students participated in 4km and 6km running events.

Central Highlands Netball League Junior Best & Fairest

Congratulations to the following BHS students who won awards at the Central Highlands Netball League Junior Best & Fairest on Tuesday 18th August:

Alana Burns (Year 10) – 17 & Under Best and Fairest (Carngham Linton)
Amity Gibbs (Year 7) – 13 & Under Runner Up (Beaufort)

National Junior Boys Bowls Champion

Congratulations to Yuvraj Miterani (Year 9) who travelled to Sydney for the Australian Indoor Bias Bowls Championships recently. Yuvraj was representing Victoria in the Boys Singles Competition against Australia’s best junior indoor bowlers. If the competition wasn’t hard enough, Yuvraj was quite sick the night before the event to add an additional challenge. It didn’t seem to bother him as Yuvraj went through the competition undefeated, (including playing the 4 times junior boys champion) to be crowned the National Junior Boys Champion.

Ballarat Football League Girls Football Premiers

Well done to all the BHS students who were part of winning Ballarat Football League Girls Football Grand Finals over this past weekend.

Robert Allan Medal Winner

Congratulations to Year 10 student Harry Drain who Monday night was awarded the U/16 Robert Allan Medal at the Ballarat Football Netball League Junior Presentation Night. The Robert Allan Medal is awarded to the player voted by all clubs and umpires the best & fairest player over the season. It is a prestigious award which has been won in the past by numerous AFL players (Andrew Hooper, Brad Crouch, Matt Crouch & Sam Lalor). To top off the night Harry also won the regular U/16 Boys Best and Fairest award.
