From The Team

What a fantastic time our students had on the Portsea Camp! We were incredibly lucky to enjoy beautiful weather, which made it the perfect setting for a few days of adventure, fun and making wonderful memories together.

The students embraced every activity with enthusiasm, from the flying fox and giant swing to creating beach art, playing on the beach, rock pooling and building huts. One of the highlights was a sing-along around the campfire, where everyone joined in and enjoyed roasting marshmallows.

It was wonderful to see the students challenging themselves, supporting their friends, trying new things and enjoying everything camp had to offer. There were plenty of laughs, smiles and memorable moments throughout our stay.

By Friday, it was safe to say that our students had made the most of every minute – they were very tired and more than ready for the trip home! A huge well done to all our students for making Portsea Camp such a wonderful experience. 🏕️

Our whole school production, ARTIFACTS, was a wonderful celebration of creativity, confidence and talent! Each class took to the stage and showcased their hard work, enthusiasm and unique talents. It was fantastic to see our students performing with such pride and excitement, and we are incredibly proud of everything they achieved.

A huge thank you to Mr Boyd for organising such a memorable production and bringing it all together. A special mention also goes to Mrs Armstrong, who choreographed and taught the dances to our Senior School students. Your time, energy and dedication helped make the performances truly special.

Well done to all our students for being such wonderful performers and thank you to our families for their support and encouragement. What a fantastic show!

Senior School Activities

Portsea Camp

On Wednesday the 2nd of September, the Senior School went to Portsea Camp. At Portsea, some of our activities were Rockpool Rambling, the Giant Swing and the Flying Fox. The Senior School was separated into many cabins.

When we ate dinner, a group from A, B, C and D would be selected to help set up the chairs, cups and water jugs. Every day, teachers would go around and knock on our doors to wake us up and do room inspections.

We got to go onto the beach for Rockpool Rambling and got our feet wet while trying to find rocks and shells as part of a competition. The two most popular and exciting activities for most people were the Giant Swing and Flying Fox.

On both nights, we got to sing campfire songs, including Waltzing Matilda and Home Among the Gumtrees, and roast marshmallows over the fire. On night two, we also got to watch a movie called Night at the Museum.

The Senior School had a great time and really enjoyed Portsea Camp.

Students arrived at the venue at quarter past nine, giving schools time to prepare and listen to the staff. Before their beginning event started, staff gave clear instructions and rules of how the contests should behave, and the competition should look like.

Events started at 10:30 AM, students competed in age groups and gender, making a fair system. Those who came Forth,Third, Second, and First received a ribbon.

Students who came first received the opportunity to compete in a higher division, where later, they will compete against other competitors from different districts.

After the school's scores were added up, they announced the places of each school, in the end, Scoresby taking first place. Students celebrated with one another, as this is the first time in 26 years, that Scoresby has won!

VSSS

Schools from across Victoria come together each year to participate in the Victorian State Schools Spectacular (VSSS) Mass Choir, including students from Scoresby Primary School.

Our Mass Choir members: Ellarae W, Sophie D, Ella G, Medina N, Avah S, Enicka LT and Maddie B.

The Mass Choir performed on 29 August at John Cain Arena, in front of an audience of more than 12,000 people. As the name suggests, it was truly SPECTACULAR!

This year’s theme, ‘This Is Me’, was a vibrant celebration of individuality, personal identity, belonging and the unique creative journey of every student involved.

The performance featured songs from The Greatest Showman, along with powerful songs that explored themes of stepping out of your comfort zone, facing challenges and achieving personal growth, including Step Out, Used to Be Mine and This Is Me.

The performance was filled with colourful lights, incredible performances, joyful dancers and plenty of smiles. It was fantastic to see our students giving their absolute best throughout the performance. Even when they didn’t know every word, they continued to participate with enthusiasm and determination.

We are incredibly proud of our Mass Choir students and the commitment, confidence and joy they brought to this amazing experience!

We are asking that you respect the effort of our students by refraining from touching the poems. They are only up for a short time, with many more poems to come, so get in quick to see them!
