Through the Leadership Lens

Dear families,

What a jam-packed first half of Term 3 we have had! Despite a bit of rain following our beautiful start, our community has continued to display an eagerness to learn and play.

A very big thank you to all our Year 6 Confirmation candidates and their families for attending Mass on Sunday. It was a beautiful way to begin their sacramental journey. Fr John’s homily sparked my thinking and perhaps hit close to home with a few of his insights. He asked us to reflect on how we find Jesus in the quiet whispers of our lives reminding us that when we put the busyness of life aside and take time to listen, we realise Jesus is right alongside us, helping us weather the storms. There will always be storms in life whether at work, in family, or through social interactions but if we stop, breathe, pray, and listen, we will find a way through. When the hectic pace, pressures, and demands weigh heavily on our minds, it is comforting to know that God will guide us through the storm and, in the rebuild, give us the faith and courage to stand alongside one another.

It was also wonderful to see some of our Year 3–6 students represent St Leonard’s at the Frankston Arts Centre on Tuesday night as they performed in Wakakirri. It was an outstanding evening full of storytelling through the arts. Our students represented St Leonard's with such pride and were fantastic role models for our school. I was blown away when collecting my tickets to have the venue staff share just how respectful and responsible our students had been throughout the day. We are all so proud of the Wakakirri team's achievements, and a massive congratulations goes to them for claiming the Public Speaking Award! A big thank you to Mrs Ellis and Mrs Wood for their continued support leading up to the performance, and to all the parents for their support, especially on the night.

We were also very excited for Book Day today as a sea of Wallys completely took over St Leonard’s! We had a fantastic day led by Mrs Gregory and our Year 6 students. Stay tuned, as there will be more to come about our celebrations soon!
