2027 Subject Selections

Students who have applied to be in the Sports Academy in 2027 should include this in their subject selections. We will advise later in the year whether students have been successful in their application. This applies to students going into Year 8, 9 or 10 in 2027.

Hoop City Basketball Tournament

Earlier this term our senior basketballers were invited to Hoop City in Port Melbourne for an exclusive, one day tournament against a number of prestigious secondary schools. The boys were very competitive and showed great sportsmanship.

Students took part in training sessions and gameplay with high-level coaches alongside students from the other attending schools. It was a great opportunity for students to develop their skills.

Futsal Update

School Futsal Titles

Last week, we had five teams who represented the college at the 2nd stage of the School Futsal Titles (soccer).

We also had an U14s Girls team and an U19s Girls team represent Lowanna. The U14s Girls had a strong competition, competing against five other teams. Despite not winning, the girls left the competition with newfound confidence and learning opportunities. The U19 Girls started their day with two wins (6-4 and 3-0) followed by a draw. They advanced to the Grand Final where they won, 1-0. The U19 Girls will compete at the National Championships in Brisbane in November!

Our Amazing Staff - Thanks Al

We would like to extend a huge thank you to our long-standing staff member, Al Burkett, who has for many years driven the bus to our numerous sporting events. Al not only continues to give up his time during the early mornings or the late afternoons on excursions, but he also supports the students with all of their different sporting endeavours. Al is also a massive part of the Outdoor Education Program, attending the annual Falls Creek Snow Camp and a variety of Outdoor Education excursions throughout the year. The Sports Academy would not thrive without the staff who continuously support the program in different ways and Al is a big part of our success.
