Principal's Message

WELCOME BACK

Welcome back to another very busy Term 3.

It was pleasing to see students, staff and parents back in our great school this week after two weeks of rest and relaxation, and time spent with family and friends.

We have so many exciting events occurring this term including school camps, Book Week, Science Week, Footy Breakfast and the Little Mermaid performance. The students are all involved in this fantastic production led by April Sandri, Zade Matheson and the concert committee. It’s very exciting and we can’t wait to see the production in full swing.

PROPOSED AEU INDUSTRIAL ACTION – THURSDAY 23RD JULY 2026

The Australian Education Union (AEU) Victorian Branch has announced a 24-hour statewide stop work for Thursday 23rd July 2026 as part of its ongoing enterprise bargaining negotiations with the Victorian Government. The industrial action is expected to involve teachers, principals and education support staff who are AEU members.

At this stage, Warrnambool Primary School is working to determine the impact of the proposed industrial action on our school operations. We are currently consulting with staff to establish whether we can safely operate the school or whether alternative arrangements will be required.

Please note this will affect many classes.

We appreciate that any disruption can be challenging for families. We are committed to providing as much notice as possible and will communicate confirmed arrangements with families as soon as they are available.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support as we work through this situation.

PUPIL FREE DAY FRIDAY 24TH JULY 2026

School Council identified Friday 24th July 2026 as a pupil free day at Warrnambool Primary School.

Staff are completing a very important Professional Learning Program titled ‘ The Framework for Understanding Poverty.’

As part of our ongoing commitment to supporting every student to succeed, Warrnambool Primary School staff are participating in professional learning based on the Framework for Understanding Poverty.

This learning strengthens staff understanding of the challenges that poverty can present for children and families, while reinforcing practical strategies to build positive relationships, create inclusive classrooms, and remove barriers to learning. Our focus remains on ensuring every student feels safe, valued, connected, and supported to achieve their full potential.

By continuing to build our knowledge and understanding, we are better equipped to provide a learning environment where all students can thrive.

Term 3 Assemblies will return on Monday 20th July 2026 at 9am. Awards will be presented.

JAMIESON STREET - ROAD SAFETY

As you all know Jamieson Street is busy before and after school. It's important that all our students and families obey by all road signs and rules. This includes leaving the Disabled Parking area free for those families who require it, and also not conducting a U-Turn into car parks.

Our priority is the safety of all pedestrians and road users and we ask for cooperation.

YEAR 5 BALLARAT CAMP - REMINDER

On Monday 3rd August our Year 5 students will be heading off to Ballarat for their 2026 camp. They will be staying at Sovereign Hill where they will experience the greatest gold rush with a focus on the 1850’s gold rush heritage and the environment. Experiences are indoors, outdoors, above ground, and below ground, ensuring a fun and action-packed camp.

Students will have an opportunity to explore an underground mine, pan for gold on the diggings, see live rare trades demonstrations, try the Raspberry Drops, browse the shops, and meet some colourful costumed characters.
