Principal's Report

Class Structures for 2026
Due to changing enrolments, we are adjusting our class structures for 2026. These changes will help minimise class sizes and ensure our teachers can provide strong support for every student in the classroom.
Our 2026 classes will be:
- 2 Foundation/Year 1 (F/1) classes
- 2 Year 1/2 classes
- 3 Year 3/4 classes
- 2 Year 5/6 classes
We will confirm individual class placements closer to the end of the year.
Foundation/1 Team
We are pleased to announce that our Foundation/Year 1 teaching team for 2026 has been finalised. Our two F/1 classes will be taught by Tracy Tadd and Heather Coates.
We are sharing this news early so Tracy and Heather can begin their important work with our Foundation transition program. We will announce our teachers for other year levels in the coming weeks.
Changes to our daily structure
In 2026 we will return to one-hour teaching blocks. We are developing instructional models aligned with the Victorian Teaching and Learning Model 2.0, and this change will help us implement these new instructional models so that every lesson includes all key components.
This structure will provide clear routines for students and teachers, supporting high-quality learning across the day.
Our day in 2026 will be:
- 9:00–10:00 Session 1
- 10:00–11:00 Session 2
- 11:00–11:30 Recess
- 11:30–12:30 Session 3
- 12:30–1:30 Session 4
- 1:30–2:30 Lunch
- 2:30–3:30 Session 5
Attendance
As part of our School Strategic Plan, we’re aiming to reduce student absences to an average of fewer than 17 days per student each year.
Regular attendance supports learning and wellbeing. Missing 20 days a year adds up to over a full year of school missed by Year 12.
So far this year, Macedon Primary students have missed 3272 days – an average of 14.23 days per student.
Thank you for supporting regular attendance. Every day counts!
Bandanna Day Fundraiser
On Thursday 30th October, we recognised National Bandanna Day. It was great to see so many children and families supporting this worthy cause.
Thank you to everyone who purchased a bandanna or made a donation to our online fundraising page. We raised $1105.
Local Visitor
Early last week we had a lovely little visitor to the school grounds.
World Teachers Day
Friday 31st of October was World Teachers Day.
This was a day to acknowledge all of the hard work and effort that teachers put in to ensure our young people receive a successful education on a daily basis.
Thank you to all of the staff at Macedon Primary School for everything you do!
We celebrated our day with a very yummy morning tea.
Warm regards,
Andrew Bloomfield
Principal
