ATHLETICS CARNIVAL WRAP UP
Although the weather conditions weren't overly ideal for athletics, congratulations to all for a successful day last Friday. The Athletics Carnival was executed flawlessly, thanks to the active involvement of the children, the exceptional dedication of our volunteers, and the hard work put in by our staff. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all our remarkable staff members who devoted a significant amount of time working behind the scenes to guarantee the seamless running of our carnival.
I am confident that many of us will remember the relay between parents and students for a long time. Especially the students who emerged as the victors. Unfortunately, some parents experienced injuries and falls during crucial moments of the race. Nonetheless, I would like to express my gratitude to all the parents, grandparents, and friends who attended and supported us on that day. Additionally, a special thank you goes to our amazing P and F for coordinating the barbecue lunch and managing the stall. I'm certain that the demand for hot drinks was high as everyone was trying to stay warm!
Congratulations go to Josie as she established a new school record in the Junior Girls Discus. Josie's throw of 18.75m was nearly two metres longer than Jessica Patterson-Kane's record of 16.70m that was set last year.
Jessica also had a remarkable day as she shattered two school records. In the 11 Years Girls 800m event, Jessica surpassed her sister Annie's record from 2022 by an impressive margin of over seven seconds, clocking in at 3.11.16. Later on, she achieved a remarkable jump of 3.21 metres in the 11 Years Long Jump, surpassing Cecilia G's mark of 3.18 metres set in 2016 by three centimetres.
Congratulations also go to all of our age champions and runners-up as well as the winning house for 2024.

Sadly, Friday was not a memorable day for me as I committed several errors and big mistakes. One of these mishaps took place during the presentation at the end of the day. When announcing the Senior Girls champion and runners-up, I mistakenly declared Emily as the champion and Grace C as the runner-up, when in fact it was the opposite. I sincerely apologise for any inconvenience or distress caused to both students and their families as a result of my mistake. I should have done better.
