Reflection

Today marks National Close the Gap Day, a significant occasion that calls upon all Australians to unite and strive for improved health outcomes for Australia's indigenous communities. The disparity in health between our First Nations people and the rest of the population is substantial, highlighting the urgent need for concerted efforts to bridge this divide. It is imperative that we collectively address this issue and take decisive action to narrow the gap.

Today is also Harmony Day, a special occasion dedicated to honoring the diverse cultures that exist within Australia. This significant day emphasises the importance of inclusivity and respect for all individuals, ensuring that they feel a sense of belonging. It serves as a unifying platform for all Australians to embrace the beauty of diversity and celebrate the shared values we hold. The core message of Harmony Day is that every person, regardless of their background, truly belongs.

This Sunday marks the beginning of Holy Week, the final week of Lent. It is a significant period to reflect on the death and resurrection of Jesus.

Palm Sunday is when palms are blessed to commemorate Jesus' peaceful entry into Jerusalem on a donkey. Holding branches on the Sunday before Easter connects us with all individuals who have embraced Jesus as the Messiah.

Prayer

O God,

grant us your forgiveness and mercy

as we celebrate the death, burial

and resurrection of Jesus.

We ask this through Christ our Lord

Amen.

Project Compassion Boxes

During the season of Lent, we are urged to devote more of our focus to individuals who may require assistance. We can accomplish this by providing financial contributions, regardless of their size, to the Project Compassion boxes throughout the forty-day period of Lent.

Please return your Project Compassion Boxes to school by the end of this term.
