Principals Report

At mass on Sunday, we celebrated the Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity. It celebrates our Christian belief that we have one God who lives in three Persons – the Father, Son (Jesus Christ) and Holy Spirit. We believe that the Trinity is a communion of love: the Father creates, the Son redeems, and the Holy Spirit sanctifies. Though distinct, we believe that each member of this trinity is equally important. Trying to understand this (and explain it to students) can be challenging, until we give ourselves over to the Mystery of our Faith. Not everything we believe can be explained and part of being a Christian is having faith in God, understanding that there are elements of our life we may never fully understand.

This week, Week 9, is bookended by fantastic, but different, experiences for our children. On Monday all students attended an Indigenous incursion titled ‘Googabinj’ performed by Ghungalu (central Qld) man Craig Kemp. Craig shared his family traditions and culture with us. This Friday we celebrate the Feast of the Sacred Heart with the College at the MPB. This feast day emphasises Jesus compassionate love, particularly as revealed in his suffering and death for the forgiveness of our sins.

Next week our Yr5’s head to Sovereign Hill for a 3 day, 2 night camp (25/6-27/6). Thanks in advance to the Yr5 staff who will attend camp, particularly Miss Connell who has put most of the planning together. Our Yr6’s attend Winter School Sports in Wangaratta on Wednesday (25/6) and school reports will be available on SIMON EVERYWHERE/PAM on Friday (27/6).

We are having a School Working Bee on Sunday 29th June (2-5pm) for anyone who is available to help out. The working bee will involve shifting the footy goal posts and general garden works. All workers will be fed (BBQ). More information will be shared with families. Please contact the office by email or phone if you are available.

Just a reminder that enrolments are open for next year’s Preppies. We have had many families through on tours already and look forward to new families joining our school next year. Please spread the word among your friends that school tours can take place at any time and enrolment enquiries are most welcome. Enrolments close on August 1st.

There are some important dates coming up that I would like to bring to your attention. Friday 20th June is the Feast of the Sacred Heart. Yr5’s go on camp to Sovereign Hill Wednesday 25th-Friday 27th June. Our last day of Term 2 is Friday 4th July. And lastly, our annual Grandparents’ Day will be held next term on Friday 25th July. Please add these dates to your calendar – more information regarding them will be shared in due course.

As it is Sacred Heart Day on Friday and we will be gathering with the College for Mass, there will be no assembly in the afternoon.

Have a great week everyone and stay warm

Take care and God bless,

Jarrod
