From the Year 6 Classroom

Dear Parents and Families,
As we approach the end of Term 2, Year 6 continues to thrive with exciting learning, leadership opportunities, and community involvement.
Literacy
We have begun a new focus on Poetry in Literacy. Students are analysing poetic craft, with a particular focus on the poem The Soft Rains Will Come. They are learning how poets use imagery, rhythm, and structure to create mood and meaning, and are beginning to experiment with some poetry writing of their own.
Numeracy
In Numeracy, we are currently exploring Patterns. Students are working on identifying, describing, and extending number patterns and sequences, applying their reasoning skills to uncover the rules behind each pattern.
Religious Education
In RE, we continue to explore Life Relationships, reflecting on how we can build positive, respectful connections with others. We are also preparing for our upcoming Sacred Heart Day Mass this week.
Inquiry – A Diverse and Connected World
As we wrap up this unit, students have continued to investigate the ways people, cultures, and places are interconnected across the globe, with some wonderful reflections on how this shapes our modern world.
Recent Highlights
- Regional Cross Country: A special congratulations to Todd Lawless, who competed in the Regional Cross Country and performed exceptionally well. We are very proud of his effort and achievement. Congratulations also to those students who will be progressing to the next level—what a fantastic effort by all!
