School Council

Message from the School Council
As you would all know, in just over a month Marcus Wicher will conclude his tenure as Principal at Auburn South Primary School.
For nearly 13 years Marcus has led our school and on behalf of the School Council and the entire school community, I pay tribute to him for his dedicated and diligent service.
Marcus’ steadfast leadership, strategic vision and empathetic approach is a hallmark of his time at ASPS.
His stewardship of our great school has seen him guide our community through some very difficult challenges as well as celebrate much success.
The performance of our school, from pastoral care, academic outcomes, co-curricular, and student development, as well as the unity of purpose that is so evidence across the school staff can all be credited to Marcus and his leadership team; it is an impressive legacy and one that we are grateful for.
In thanking Marcus, we also acknowledge the Wicher family, whose support of their husband and dad enabled him to be the great Principal we all have come to know.
We congratulate Marcus on his appointment as Principal of Milgate Primary School and wish him every success.
In closing, many of you have asked me about the process to select Marcus’ replacement. The Department of Education will shortly convene a 5-member panel that will select our new Principal. The Department’s policy provides for two of the panel members to be drawn from the parent members of the School Council, including the School Council President as chair. It is likely that an Acting Principal will be in place following Marcus’ departure until the commencement of our new permanent Principal.
As we approach the term 2 break, I wish you all a safe and restful break.
Phoebe Demiris
School Council President
